Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 30, 2010 11:45 am Hi I have a question re relasing funds once a builder has invoiced you. We received an invoice for our frame stage - after going down to have a look the frame of the house has gone up however the roof trusses have not been put up yet. Do these need to be up before this stage is deemed to be completed? or can the builder request payment for this stage before this happens? Would you hold back payent until the trusses go up? All our contacts seem to be on holiday at the moment and looks as though builder has invoiced us before christmas in an attempt to get us to pay early Re: Progress payment clarification 2Dec 30, 2010 2:07 pm I would have thought a roof frame was part of the roof, not the whole building. My builder kept building anyway even if you haven't paid yet. I don't know how it works over your way though. But as you said the frame is up, so sounds like a good time to pay the progress payment. They're not going to know until they get back from holidays if you have paid yet, that only affects you when it's the final payment and you want your keys. Re: Progress payment clarification 3Dec 30, 2010 7:56 pm I believe in my contract (it's been a while since I've looked), there are definitions of what the completion of each stage means. Maybe double check yours as it may specify? viewtopic.php?f=31&t=37229 - our Iris 4!
