Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 25, 2010 5:50 pm Moving to the Adelaide area and have been looking for homes. Lots of homes for sale. In all of the homes I have ever owned, I like to leave my mark. Most of the homes we are looking at in the Adelaide area are a bit on the small side for the family so I am interested in renovating and building extension. Have discovered in the past that things like buying windows (used) can save a few $, particularly if the extension has not yet been designed. It takes time to get responces and find the right windows, so I start now. Was interested if there is anyone out there demolishing their home and might sell the windows? Matthew Re: demolishing home? 2Jan 03, 2011 6:31 pm Just a word of caution - You'll find some demoliton crews state you can't remove any fixtures, esp. windows/Doors (they claim the charge for demolition incorporates salvage fees they collect). So just be careful - you might buy a window for $100, but your seller may then have their demolition fee increased by proportionaly more.... maybe scout second hand / salvage companies yourself? Still be cheaper than buying brand new... Cheers AV.
