Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 22, 2010 1:14 pm Advise needed….. Air con guy fell through our ceiling…. He is alright! Now I question to whether we are going to have ongoing issues? They have got a plasterer out and have fixed it but two hair line cracks have showed a little but further down. Then the next day I get a phone call from my sister and she said the cornice dropped. They fixed it but I wonder what issues will we have??? In one day a bit of a cornice has dropped, what will it be like in a few months time. I have called the air-conditioning company and have stated I am not releasing the cheque til we get an agreement in writing and also if I were you I would be reviewing the price….. as you can see I made that phone call not troy hahahaha he thinks I am being a bit too harsh but I am really upset…. We have put our heart and souls and A LOT of money in our BRAND NEW HOUSE and then this…. It doesn’t feel like its new anymore I just may be overreacting???? Re: Guys falls through our ceiling. Advise plz 2Dec 22, 2010 1:27 pm I would be mighty pi$$ed if it was my house. Good move telling them you wont pay them until you've got an agreement from them. I will be interested to hear the outcome of this. Good luck, I hope you get this sorted out ASAP. contract signed: Nov 09 Released to Construction: 23 Jul 10 Slab poured: 9 Aug 10 Frame completed: 30 Aug 10 Windows & Gutters: 7 Sep 10 Bricks: 15 - 23 Sep 10 Roof: 24 Sep 10 Gyprock: 20 Oct 10 Lockup: 25 Oct 10 Kitchen: 27 Oct 10 Tiling: 6 - 9 Nov 10 Painting: 17 Nov 10 Carpet: 30 Nov 10 PCI: 15 Dec 10 Handover: 17 Dec 10 https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=35943 Re: Guys falls through our ceiling. The sparky fell through the ceiling at a friends place about 6 months ago, they had it all repaired etc and you can't even tell, no issues - I wouldn't even be able to tell where it was now. ~ trying to build our dream home by the sea ~ Re: Guys falls through our ceiling. Advise plz 4Dec 22, 2010 3:55 pm Air con man managed to put his foot thru my sisters ceiling. They fixed it and had no ongoing issues with it 12 months later. In fact I can't even see where it was at all. I guess a foot is a whole lot different to falling totally through it, but as long as it is repaired correctly it will be fine. In fact, with having to change the towel rails in our house I'm disappointed that we will have filled holes in our tiles (even if you cant see it with towels hanging). You're right, it has the not new feel. Handover February 2011 Happy with our home Re: Guys falls through our ceiling. Advise plz 6Dec 22, 2010 11:37 pm thanks all for your responses. Received a phone call from them and they are sending a letter saying they Will be responsible if anythin appears around that area. As for The price they wont budge. I think that is appauling for what they have done but i guess they look at that they are already out of pocket with The fixes they have done from The damage they caused. Re: Guys falls through our ceiling. Advise plz 7Dec 23, 2010 9:54 am I think that is fair actually - they are taking responsibility for their accidental damage and you are paying for the product that you ordered. Would you have preferred if they said we will take $xxx off the price but not given assurances for the damage? Re: Guys falls through our ceiling. Advise plz 8Dec 23, 2010 4:47 pm hhmmmmm you might not like this...but... i know that it is very stressfull and inconvienient that this bloke fell through the roof. but they have repaired the damage (maybe get it reviewed in 6months to see if anymore comes through and get more repairs if required). i dont however think you should get the aircon cheaper. they have delivered the product you asked for at the agreed price. best thing to come out of this is that the bloke hasnt ended up seriously injured in hospital your home will still be as lovely as before, and this will become a distant memory when your enjoying your lovel cool house in the sweltering heat anyway you might not agree but thats what i reckon When times get tough build a house...Our second build yep sounds good make the footing bigger to to allow for the pipe in the middle 3 7297 Hi When it rains in a particular direction water comes through the security door.
