Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 20, 2010 12:53 pm Hi All,
This is a what would you do query...we are trying to decide what size bi-parting sliding doors to have between our living and alfresco area. We currently have 2400 x 4078 wide sliding doors and are considering whether it would be better to have the 4900 (approx.) wide doors instead? We like really like the idea of the increased light and the idea of bringing the outside in with the larger doors, but are concerned that the larger doors may take over the room, look too big, heating and cooling issues (though at least they will be double glazed which may help somewhat?) and whether better to keep some wall space on that wall? This is our own design and first build and this is our last decision to finalise our plan and we are having difficulty visualising what will be best, so your thoughts, comments and experiences would be much appreciated and welcomed. A pic of the area is attached showing the current doors. The area the larger door would take is marked. Thanks so much... Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: What would you do? Sliding Door Query 4Dec 22, 2010 7:17 am hi tuberose it all depends on the look you want to achieve - our sliding doors are 3975mm wide and seem more than adequate - but we do have a set of triangle hilites above - in my opinion I wouldn't go bigger What is the orientation of that area? e.g. north or south?
