Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 19, 2010 9:08 pm Dear All This is my first topic. So I apologize for my writing language and some possible mistakes as am a migrant from Russia We are building our first house and it will be ready in 2 month. Just after our today's unofficial inspection we realized the house was build not to the plan boundaries The distance from one side of the house to the side fence should be 1.2 m. Unfortunately it was build with the distance of 1.7m. So we got 50 cm less for our other side where we planned to make our main backyard and our entertain area. More over we planned to use the area between the garage wall and the other fence for parking our second car. And with those 50 cm less it's not possible at all The house is almost ready and we are getting the keys soon. I understand that there is no possibility to do nay changes. But can I demand some sort of compensation from our builder ? 50 cm I think it's too much, especially If they had clear marks and peg signs of my site. What do you think. Please, I will be grateful for your advise Nikolai Re: House boundaries are not equal to the plan 2Dec 20, 2010 4:20 pm Yes I think you can expect compensation. That is a huge mistake. You should tell them that you were planning to use those areas for entertainment and for parking your car, so they understand that it's a big issue. Then ask them what they are going to do about it, see what they offer.
