Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 14, 2013 1:18 pm Hi all! We're a young family just about to begin our first build! So after many months of researching and many appointments with many builders we decided on Ventura. We felt their designs and displays felt the most 'modern' . The Sales rep told us exactly what we wanted to hear and basically did his job as the 'sales rep' perfectly - Shortly after the deposit was paid he was suddenly busy and took a week to get back to us.... slowly drifted away and we haven't heard from him now for....about 4 months- better off without him anyway! Moving on! Its been a slow process, waiting for contracts to sign, Pre start happened about 2 months ago..settlement one month ago.... Site works surprised us and were done within a week of settlement.........we were told slab would be down friday that's just gone and then of course it rained.........and rained............so now we are assuming it will be done by the end of the week and bricks the week after. Sunshine please stay!!! Our plan was based on the Applause plus out of Venturas Vspec range, and our block is just under 796sqm. 'Needs' were ! Storage! Hence the 20 pot drawers in kitchen! - With two ovens! Activity room for kids to chill ( Boy&Girl 4&2!) Separate, study with door! Lots and lots and lots of room in the kitchen! Hence the two island benches Dark & Quiet Media room! Laundry hidden - Not on display - not near kids bedrooms! BIR & min 3x4 to all bedrooms. Storage? Did I say storage? The back of the house is facing NNW Living close to your build sucks - its impossible not to drive past every day!!! We've gone with stone bench tops - kitchen is mainly gloss white with a darker coloured kick board/back of island benches. Gone for top quality Vinyl planks throughout, carpets in bedrooms & Media room, tiles in bathroom & ensuite. Changed from tiles throughout as builder was going to charge a forture for the ones we loved and then I was home to clean grout in current home.........noooooooooooo! Must limit grout presence in new house!! We've gone for contrasting colours on the exterior , white brick and dark roof & gutters & down pipes etc. Now the fun begins trying to juggle mortgages Hope you all enjoy this and some of our mistakes (hopefully minor) can help anyone else out looking to build Any questions feel free to ask! I'm now going to try and figure out how to add the plan and then pics as they come of the build! Yipeeee! Re: First time builders - Ventura - Australind!!! 2Oct 14, 2013 1:28 pm Yay another Ventura client although from the Southwest division. Our salesman is awesome, still keeps in touch now. You started with the same design as us but sounds like you have tweaked it a lot, can't wait to see your plans BTW our build thread is viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64997 Our build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64997&start=40 Re: First time builders - Ventura - Australind!!! 4Oct 14, 2013 1:50 pm Not quite, when you are in Photobucket and click "Get links" use the bottom one - just click the link then come back here and CTRL + V to paste it in. It should appear as a image then rather than just a link. I've taken the [img] off the start and end as too many ! Great redesign, like the ensuite layout and placement of the laundry. As for the massive kitchen, I dread to think how much extra they charged for that ! Our build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64997&start=40 Re: First time builders - Ventura - Australind!!! 8Oct 14, 2013 2:07 pm KBplus2 I can't see 'get links' I can see them listed down the bottom but none seem to be showing up in here bummer! When in your photobucket album you'll see a gear symbol in the top right of each picture, hover over that and you'll see the "get links" prompt which will bring up another small window with the links in it. Very happy with that The block we loved on the river was 220k but meant we wouldnt have the house we wanted... still in walking distance to schools though and in a recent subdivision. Nothing around for similar size for that price though Re: First time builders - Ventura - Australind!!! 14Oct 14, 2013 4:43 pm We are having glass splash back and it's $2k for about that much but it's one luxury I let the missus have ! Ours is the same design - on the outside at least - but only 272sq.m ?? Love your plan. It looks great. I'll be following along on your build. I'm a bit of a ventura fan as we had planned to build with them originally( plan picked out/ build walked through/ mods thought out) and would have done so if they'd not pulled out of Donnybrook for about 8 months around the time we were signing up with a builder. 4 years later I still am sad about the bits I loved in our Ventura plan that couldn't be transferred to our WACB design. Can anyone give me any onfo on New Homes WA? Good or bad, hopefully good just need to know if my choice was good or not? Thanks ❤️ 0 8936 So it looks like we finally have some movement on site! Definitely later than expected, but I'll take any progress at this point. I'll drop by over the weekend to get… 5 27704 9 24790 |
