Browse Forums Building A New House Re: PLACES HOMES general information thread 22May 23, 2011 10:04 pm Hi , this thread has been a little quiet. How is everyone's build going? Any good or bad experiences to share? Our site start began in May (should've been April) but things have progressed at a reasonable speed. We now have our slab poured and the frame should start this week depending on the weather. Our experience with our admin has still been good so far. She helped us organize to remove some rubbish from our site (PD was building next door) so that was a bonus. Only little annoying thing was they wanted to charge $$$$ to remove a void at final drawing stage so I just left it. Our site supervisor called after the slab was poured to introduce himself. So good so far. Hope the rain holds off this week so we can have our frames completed. Hope all is going well for everyone and keep this thread going. Re: PLACES HOMES general information thread 23May 25, 2011 2:32 pm Yes, very quiet this thread. Our Progress is not bad. So far I am happy with quality. We will have inspection and handover next month. Watch up following items No one will remove the rubbish generated during wiring stage. Plasterer continues insulation and plasterboard without removing rubbish on top of timber frames. Wall on top of rear access door from garage build with single brick. It has to be double brick according to drawing Bored piers cast together with slab. Ask them to refund conc pump cost PCV amount to be reflect on next claim. They wait for final claim to refund you if you have any saving. The consolidation means that Places properties will be transferred into Porter Davis Homes group, so we will have even more stunning designs under the PD brand. For those of you who aren’t aware of Places Homes, it was founded in 2008 during which time many first and new home buyers discovered an affordable opportunity to build a brand new home with a stunning range of bespoke Places designs. The consolidation of brands will not affect Places’ existing obligations, as all current customer and supplier contracts will be honoured and construction will continue as planned. Also the entirety of the Places staff will be transitioning into Porter Davis Homes group. The rebranding program is due to commence on 1 June and all current Places and Porter Davis display homes will remain open, with Places Homes being rebranded by 1 July 2011. Current or existing Places Homes clients can call their local Porter Davis Lifestyle office for any further information. East – 9709 1200. North – 8467 1200. West – 9363 9555."" It was a little upsetting as the customer service from her was great. I just hope whoever we get next will be equally good. 77lk1 - did you hire an independent inspector and can you explain a little more about the pierring and what is PCV? We went to the site today and the frame's finished. I'm so in awe of quick things have progressed so far. We went to the site today and the frame's finished. I'm so in awe of quick things have progressed so far. We did not hire an independent inspector. I checked myself. bored piers has to be cast before the slab pore. We had 3 piers along the garage wall and concreted together with slab. Places Homes charged extra for concrete pump to cast piers. So they have to credit pump cost. PCV mean post contract variation. Good to hear your progress. We had a good progress and suddenly no show since last month. Looks like our PCI and completion will delay due to changes to company. Supervisor won’t answer ph and CSC doesn’t know the dates. That was quick, it seems like yesterday you started!! Have you got any progress photos of exterior/interior, would be great to see. Oh, and how is that lovely LONG kitchen of yours? We might be finished framing today, so that's pretty exciting Re: PLACES HOMES general information thread 30Jul 14, 2011 8:32 am Heya, Just realized ur comment about timber floors. 8k savings sounds wonderful. I remember when we went into hopetoun, the type we choose was quoted about 15k ouch!! So we opted to find our own people after handover. Still were looking at getting Spotted gum, and it seems everywhere we ask it'll cost us about $13k. What kind of timber did you get? Care, to pm me the details? I'm excited for you - can't wait to move in to my place! The quality has been good, other than the cabinetry in the pantry which is a bit rough. There's a chip here and there. Can someone comment about how Places/PD go about fixing things at PCI. cheers, stuey. 0 4984 We are at the stage on our build in Kilcoy, Queensland where we need to get our fencing installed but we cant get any contact details for our neighbours to give them… 0 6161 You should check your detail drawings, it may show downpipe within brick pier. 14 14110 |
