Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 08, 2010 10:01 pm Hi there, My partner and I are building with Premier builders and are well pretty stressed out. We are first home buyers and signed our contract late last year. We are building a house & land package with them, have picked colours and are now waiting to commence building. We were (according to our contract) supposed to start building mid 2010 and finish October 2010 sometime so we moved in with parents in the meantime to save more money. The titles have been released on the estate but nothing is happening yet. We have contacted them and no one seems to know anything the latest is that it will be started within 21 days of approvals being granted. Does this mean titles? We are really worried as my hairdresser went to build with them and got stuffed around for 18 months, by then the contract expired and they told her they were not building anymore she is now saving again for her first home as house prices went up and it became unaffordable for her. Someone please help explain to me as this is my personal nightmare!!! Thanks Re: new to blog and building 2Dec 09, 2010 4:50 am Carli- my suggestion is that you take your questions to your builders...see what their response is. They should clearly explain what they mean. Did you have anyone go over your contract with you prior to signing it? It should have a glossary of terms in it as well. Which State are you in? Each State has variations on their normal building practices & contracts, so this information makes it easier for forum posters to help you out. The approvals they are talking about will probably mean your building permit etc from your local council. I agree with Dee, the approvals they are talking about are the council approvals. Has your application gone to council yet? Contact your builder and ask them where they are at with it all. contract signed: Nov 09 Released to Construction: 23 Jul 10 Slab poured: 9 Aug 10 Frame completed: 30 Aug 10 Windows & Gutters: 7 Sep 10 Bricks: 15 - 23 Sep 10 Roof: 24 Sep 10 Gyprock: 20 Oct 10 Lockup: 25 Oct 10 Kitchen: 27 Oct 10 Tiling: 6 - 9 Nov 10 Painting: 17 Nov 10 Carpet: 30 Nov 10 PCI: 15 Dec 10 Handover: 17 Dec 10 https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=35943 0 4972 For reference, this is the Austlii reference.
