Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 06, 2010 6:05 pm Hi all, we've been building our house since July and have often stopped by here for inspiration, now I've joined as I need help with the colour of this splashback.
There was no intention of going for a red splashback, then we found this colour, loved it, the decision was made and now we just don't know what it is!! We need a splashback colour that will work with the burnished wood we have on the top cupboards and the 2pack polar white below, with the option to remove the burnished wood in future and 2 pack polar white that as well. Also, does anyone have pictures of any rendering in the greys like Colorbond Monument or Dulux Malay? Just to see if reality matches our vision?! Any other advice or suggestions would be appreciated Kitchens Splash Back - ??? see attached picture Bench Top - ice snow caesar stone Cupboard Doors - above: burnished wood laminate Below: polar white 2 pack Cabinets - polar white Draws - polar white Kickboard - polar white Island Bench - as above Hardware / Taps - can't remember! Splashback colour?? Monument render?? Pics 2Dec 06, 2010 6:27 pm Hey there, I'm getting a splash back in Dulux "Red Box" which is a bit brighter than the pic you have, I think by looking at Dulux's website it looks closer to Dulux "Henna Red" Or just my interpretation as a Merlot/ Wine colour see their website http://www.dulux.com.au/colour/colour-gallery/hues-gallery/red Hope this helps Re: Help Please!! Splashback colour?? Monument render?? Pics 3Dec 06, 2010 8:01 pm XT4V has a red splashback - in Dulux Red Box (as does Bicko123) http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=40123 Handmick also has a lovely red splashback http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=39359&start=0 You may need to get some large samples of the burnished wood and see if you can borrow some large samples of red splashbacks so that you can see them in the natural lighting of your house. And your kitchen colours are fab... sorry no help with the name of the red though - sorry! Sleven Moved into our Atlantique MkII 36 by Carlisle Homes Re: Help Please!! Splashback colour?? Monument render?? Pics 5Dec 07, 2010 9:23 pm Thanks so much for the feedback, I've gone off to snoop on the other splashbacks and they are similar but the closest colour match I have found so far is the neck of a bottle of wine for sale at a restaurant we had lunch in last week. I think I'll go back and buy the bottle - only for colour matching purposes! Thanks for the positive feedback about our facade and colour choice, they have been our choices, without a colour consultant, just many tins of sample paint and crossed fingers! Sleven, do you have pictures of the outside of your house, I was browsing through your thread and I only found ones deleted from photobucket. Could you please post a picture of your facade for me, or direct me to the right page if there's already some up. Thanks again, because we needed it! Re: Help Please!! Splashback colour?? Monument render?? Pics 6Dec 29, 2010 8:41 am See now there needs to be pics....lots of pics. PICS ATTACHED!! 9Dec 31, 2010 12:28 pm I posted this in the show us your splashback thread and thought I'd add it to here as well...
I decided we had to get cheeky and go straight to the source with the splashback we both love and so I was so brave I got my fiancé to make the call The colour ended up being DuPont maroon with silver aluminium and it has taken him quite a while to achieve the 'right' look with balancing the paint with the aluminium. The man behind the splashback sending us out a sample so we can see it in our home and if we end up choosing to go with that colour, he is prepared to travel from Geelong to Gippsland to measure and install for extra $$ (which was very reasonable for time/distance). So far it has been really positive dealing with the splashback man and we are hoping to get sample soon so we can move forward with decision. Would give more details of company name etc if partner wasn't golfing at the moment! Hopefully it won't be too long before I will write to say we have found 'The One'! Re: HELP PLEASE!! EXTERIOR COLOURS?? PICS ATTACHED!! 13Jan 01, 2011 11:34 pm Thanks! It's the first time we've built so it has been an interesting time!! We really liked the exterior colours of the house on Grand Designs Australia's Indented Head House episode, so once again I thought I'd be bold and send the painter an sms for the colours he used. I was really surprised when he sent me a text back with the white colour and said feel free to call if I needed any extra help...so I did I really wanted to know the grey colour and Clinton was so helpful with sharing the colours he used, we talked about splashbacks and he's getting back to me with some supplier details when he's recovered from New Years So, I'm dropping his details here because I was impressed that he was happy to help me without expecting something from it and the Indented Head boys did nothing by halves so I'm expecting it is top quality and from the phone call he sounds like a really nice guy! He's from the Ocean Grove area but travels for work as he would of been happy to come to Gippsland to paint our house.
