Browse Forums Building A New House Re: CheerupCharlie's house - Internal & External paint pics 161Aug 04, 2011 10:37 am Thanks Tinkster. Yeah the $250 is ok but we're just going to do it when we paint some color in the other rooms. We are going to do some colors in the bedrooms and the laundry so we'll just do it then. I didn't get the buider to do that because it would be too expensive and too complicated.. So we're going to do it about 3 weeks after we move in. We're not bringing much furniture so we'll be right to paint, especially as we're planning it.. Thanks pattycake, its just not at all what i was expecting so yeah definately want to change it. I love the contrast of two colors. We're all different thats what makes life interesting though. Yeah I agree about the white celings, I'm loving the white birch. Its a more creamy white. Mclaren, unbelievably excited. Can't wait. Apparently the electrical stuff is in today... So I'll try grab some photos of the fans, lights etc... WOOHOOOOOO Re: CheerupCharlie's house - Internal & External paint pics 162Aug 04, 2011 5:02 pm I agree about the skirts - definately need to be white. Your house has inspired me lots as it is similar to what I have in mind for the kitchen joinery and the lovely buttery paint I also like the white contrast on the arc and skirts. Hadn't thought about doing a different colour ceiling though (as opposed to ceiling white) so will have to check out some display homes. It's hard to tell on your pics cause they still look white. I had a look at a kitchen showroom yesterday and they had kitchen cupboard doors similar to yours but that profile has been discontinued . I'm sure there will be something else though. I had a colonial type vinyl wrap in my previous home so I am used to having that feature on my doors and would probably prefer to do that again rather than smooth. However I think, like you, modern country will work better for me now and that's why I like your cupboard doors. I will put up a photo of my previous kitchen for you to see. We are meeting with a builder on Tuesday to discuss our current plan and get a quote so hopefully we will get started soon although we want to get a couple of quotes first. https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43937&start=0 Bought a block in Golden Grove - Jan 2011 Finally finished our design, Mar 2012, *yay* Signed with ADH council consent June 12 Re: CheerupCharlie's house - Internal & External paint pics 163Aug 04, 2011 7:21 pm hi there dreamcome true. Its nice to hear my house is inspiring in some way. I've gotten heaps from being a snoop here on so many other's home builds so its nice to return the favor. I found the website and door profiles that the kitchen company our builder goes through uses so thought you might want to take a look. There's so many great styles if you like the look I went for. http://www.classicdoors.com.au/2-pack-painted-doors.htm#outback I'd love to see your photo of your previous kitchen too. How exciting that you are starting on Tuesday. It dosn't feel that long ago that we did that and now we are 2 weeks from moving in. The quoting stage took a little while for us too because we got 5 quotes! Mainly because we wanted to get a really good idea of which builder would be most suitable for us. This part of the process has turned out to be invaluable as we've had almost no problems. I'll have to keep an eye out for your build, looking foward to seeing what you come up with. Oh and it turns out that the contract we signed says one color for ceiling, one for walls and one for windows. So the skirts are not specified in there. So I'm glad we didn't push the issue as we would have been in the wrong. I'm happy with all the things they did do so don't want to make a fuss about something like that. That door will be a great feature with your brick Re: CheerupCharlie's house - Internal & External paint pics 167Aug 05, 2011 9:48 am Wow what a difference the fans and downlights make - it's looking like a real house! That'll be us soon I still think a feature WALL colour shouldn't include the skirtings. What are they going to do about the tiles? Does it just need another row on the right hand side? What was he on? Glossy door looks very noice! I'm with you on the skirtings definately although it will be a couple months before I post up a photo of our improvements to them. The tiles, well I'm going to insist they put them on. It just dosn't seem right. And yes love my glossy black door but check my photos to see more about that... pattycake4 - Hmm its hard to say as the shade is actually different everywhere I stand. Most of the photos are taken with the flash and but somehow when I'm in the house the yellow is brighter than it looks to me on my screen. Hmm I'll work on getting an accurate one for you. One in family room, one in each hall, and 3 for us were enough. one is like a full moon shining in a window, you dont need many. Re: CheerupCharlie's house - Light fittings and driveway pi 176Aug 05, 2011 12:37 pm Thanks kiwi, yep that's what they are. I find having a hall light on is too bright for the kids. Apparently its not good for them anyway. So I thought I'd put one of these in so they can see where they are going if they get up but its not so bright that it keeps them awake. Only thing is, I didn't look for a switch for it.. I hope there is one. LOL I will have to check when I go back. I broke a light while I was there so I was freaking out and apologising to the electrician and he said lucky that one had to go back anyway! naughty me.
