Re: CheerupCharlie's house - Photo update 21 july 142Jul 26, 2011 10:43 pm No photos this time but I will be going over tomorrow to take some photos hopefully. Yesterday the painters were there first thing and had prepped the whole house by the end of the day. Today saw the undercoat go up and its really bizarre to see it all one color and looking more like a house we can live in. We've been told that handover is looking to be on the 19th eeek that's 3 weeks from Friday. Can't believe it. It's hard to tell if they'll make the handover date but I'm really thrilled to see that the painting has started as that's a huge step towards the end being in sight. So watch this space, painting pics coming right up. Re: CheerupCharlie's house - update 26 july 143Jul 26, 2011 10:52 pm whoaooao! we had 2 weeks of painting and were in 2 weeks later.. Re: CheerupCharlie's house - update 26 july 144Jul 27, 2011 12:25 pm cheerupcharlie, I'm thinking about having a shower shelf like you have. Was it made within the usual wall or was it a double wall? I know with some of the niches a double wall is required but the shelf isn't as deep. https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43937&start=0 Bought a block in Golden Grove - Jan 2011 Finally finished our design, Mar 2012, *yay* Signed with ADH council consent June 12 Re: CheerupCharlie's house - update 26 july 145Jul 27, 2011 1:04 pm Kiwi - wow 2 weeks later!!! Amazing. Can't believe we're at this end. It's just flown up. dreamcometrue - they are done just in the normal wall, they are actually smaller (not as deep) than I was expecting but on inspection they are still big enough to sit shampoo bottles etc... So nope we don't have the double frame wall and I'm still happy with them. Re: CheerupCharlie's house - update 26 july 146Jul 27, 2011 1:30 pm that's actually what I wanted to hear - it's more costly and takes up extra room for a double wall. I'm sure it would be as deep as an attached shelf anyway. https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43937&start=0 Bought a block in Golden Grove - Jan 2011 Finally finished our design, Mar 2012, *yay* Signed with ADH council consent June 12 Re: CheerupCharlie's house - update painting undercoat 28 ju 147Jul 28, 2011 11:59 pm Ok some photo updates, we actually have our first coat of paint color this afternoon but they'd left by the time I went back to get some pics.. so hopefully tomorrow I'll get the pics of the top coat. Re: CheerupCharlie's house - INTRODUCING - VERY CASHMERE.... 150Jul 29, 2011 11:26 am have they given you a move in date? painters look like they are doing a great job, SOOOOO home stretch now! Re: CheerupCharlie's house - INTRODUCING - VERY CASHMERE.... 151Jul 29, 2011 12:00 pm Wow love the colour cashmere, think I might pinch that colour is the other colour white birch Re: CheerupCharlie's house - INTRODUCING - VERY CASHMERE.... 152Jul 29, 2011 12:17 pm Glad you like it. I'm LOOOVING IT! Mclaren - buttery is a good description. It will probably still change slightly when top coat is on but yes warm and buttery sounds just right. Kiwi - Handover was the 19th, now the 18th. I'm wondering if they'll need that long. We don't think the to do list is that long anymore. We're seeing very hard work all the way through and so far it seems everything is being done properly so hopefully not much to fix later either. pattycake4 - yep very cashmere. Its a dulux color and white birch is the trim. IT's also called white opal apprently. The windows are white birch full strength. It's not really white but its not cream either. LOL Re: CheerupCharlie's house - INTRODUCING - VERY CASHMERE.... 153Jul 30, 2011 11:15 am Gorgeous!! Love the colour - we have similar taste, I think. I look forward to seeing how you decorate your home https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43937&start=0 Bought a block in Golden Grove - Jan 2011 Finally finished our design, Mar 2012, *yay* Signed with ADH council consent June 12 Re: CheerupCharlie's house - INTRODUCING - VERY CASHMERE.... 154Aug 02, 2011 11:03 am Eeek decorating, will really test me. I seem to like everything that's not in my budget so I'm going to have to learn how to DIY a bit I think. We have the painters starting the outside today and I'm told they will be finished tomorrow. So that's good news. Also we had the concreter and plumber at the house yesterday working out the driveways, slabs for the aircon units and also water tank slab. We decided to put some concrete outside the laundry door too, which I was originally going to put some pavers down but they talked me into the concrete. I don't love concrete so the less the better!! We have also chosen where to put the front path and also a path out the back of the garage door to the alfresco. I'm so happy with all the decisions now. It's going to look a bit odd without the decking and no plants in the front but it will hopefully make us get to those things sooner rather than later... Appliances should be going in this week too! There was another guy there measuring up for the mirrors and shower screens and so all that's left after that is the plumber and electrician for the fixtures and the flooring!!!! WOOHOO. Can't believe its nearly over. Well the build part anyway. Re: CheerupCharlie's house - Internal & External paint pics! 155Aug 04, 2011 2:11 am Ok so today was both exciting and disappointing. The good news is that the driveway and paths were boxed up so it was good to get a visual of that, the internal paint is pretty much finished and the external paint started too. The bad news is that although the painter has done an amazing job, we feel that there is a couple of issues we're not happy with so that was disappointing. Firstly we were told to choose a wall color, a skirt color and the 3rd is usually ceiling white. Well I asked for everything in white birch/white opal and this was fine. It was going to be 1/4 strength everywhere but obviously gloss on the skirts and archs. However I did specify that I would love a color in the lounge and kitchen/family/dining room (which is one big room). Obviously when you add color they usually charge you a feature wall price but I questioned if they would have to do this considering I wanted a fair bit of it in the one color. So the BC said she would put it to the painter and yep he was fine with it all and said we could do it no extra charge. He also did the celing in the white opal instead of the ceiling white which looks fantastic. However what I was surprised to find out is that they do not cut in for the skirts so everywhere that we have the very cashmere (yellow) the skirts are also very cashmere. I wasn't expecting this at all. I had specified skirts to be white birch/opal. Hmmm. Apparently that's how they normally do it here... Wherever the feature color is, the skirt below is the same color. In fact they thought it was weird that we'd want it painted in the white... The other thing is that where the very cashmere is the front of the architraves are in the white opal but not the 1cm side of the architrave where it meets the plaster wall. So the archs effectively have two colors on them. The front is white and the side is yellow. That's weird too right or is it just me? Apparently they do this because its much easier and the job gets done quicker... I'm not sure about it. I mean the painter did us a huge favor putting up the color for us but now we have this problem. We've been told we can get them fixed at a cost of $250. And its going to be a pain for the painter of course which I feel bad about. But we've told them not to worry about it and we'll just fix it ourselves. Just disappointed though I mean I'm glad they did the color for us but I wish I had been told how they 'usually do it'. I personally have never ever seen it or heard it done the way they have done it. But apparently I'm the odd one out. Anyway that issue aside, the house is looking amazing. Am I allowed to say that or is that like when people say my son/daughter is sooo cute? LOL Well I DO love my house and I'm feeling quite happy with my choices. It's feeling very me and very homey which is what I wanted. So enough from me, here's the pics from today. They had to cut part of the drain and the silly placement meant we couldn't have a dead straight driveway but I think its turned out ok. Hopefully. I dont want that, can I have semi gloss on the skirts, and not the matt paint that the wall is, he said fine. so when the painter came to chat to me about colours I reemphasied I didnt want all one matt colour on the walls and skirts I wanted 2, one semi gloss on skirts in black white (a resene colour) and one matt on walls (thorndon cream) that is what I got. But I didnt sign any contract etc re all skirts SEMI GLOSS IN BIRCH etc so I am not sure if you have any come back. we had one colour throughout, no feature walls etc but even so..if I had had a wall with a feature colour I would have still expected all skirts in black white. that is sad they didnt tell you, but once you live there and furniture etc you may not notice too much and it makes your walls look taller as all one colour... if that helps! Re: CheerupCharlie's house - Internal & External paint pics 158Aug 04, 2011 10:10 am Looking good I'm hearing you about the skirting - I agree should be white Lots going on - you must be very excited!!
