Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Feedback on Ventura Homes, Perth 4Nov 30, 2010 6:00 pm Hey Was thinking about getting in touch with our sales rep again (who was very nice). I don't know - I think I am just a bit grumpy and don't want to part with that amount of money - at least to a company who have not lived up to expectation. The most excruciating thing was we were given last Thursday as commencement date, then on that very day we received a phone call to say there was 'building materials' (dumped from another site - a Ventura site whats more) on our block and so they could not proceed and we would have to pay to have it removed! Of course we were not agreeable to that.....so they agreed to remove it. Needless to say - it is still there, and they have still not commenced and I am STILL waiting for a phone call or reply email to the 2 I have sent since last Friday. Anyway - we might try to call again tomorrow and get some answers. ![]() Re: Feedback on Ventura Homes, Perth 5Nov 30, 2010 6:14 pm Hey Geste We built with Ventura and got our keys about 3 weeks ago. I have no major complaints about Ventura at all - very happy with the workmanship (have not found anything that I am not happy with yet), service and costing. We cancelled our contract with another builder and swapped over to Ventura because we found they had a lot more inclusions than the previous builder we were signed with. Paperwork stage does take some time - but it does with every builder. Be prepared for about 6-7 months spent on paperwork/prestart/scheduling phase. To give you an idea, we signed our preliminary contract in July 2009 and we got our keys a few weeks ago. However, we had to resubmit our plans to council around Christmas (because we deicded to flip the house plan over) and I believe this added about a month or so waiting time. If you keep changing things after signing the contract, be prepared for it to take longer. Ours sales guy was pretty good and always responded to any queries. Prestart person was fantastic and responded to things very quickly. CRO (person you deal with throughout building stage) always got back to me the same day. I always contacted all of these people via email, as it was easy for me (and it also means you have everything in writing). Overall I am happy with our experience with Ventura and I'd build with them again. If building with them, I would suggest you always follow things up (such as call the council to make sure plans have been submitted, if people haven't gotten back to you call again and follow up etc) but - I would reocmmend this with any builder. Have a read through my thread if you like. Also, camyperth and starbabe's threads as they also built with Ventura. If you have any other specific questions, feel free to ask. What house are you looking at building? Goodluck with whatever you choose to do!! We had a bit of junk on our block that was there from neighbours and Ventura just removed it. Yeah... keep harassing them until you get an answer and a new start date! Your post brings ME hope! At least I know Ventura actually do build houses! I was beginning to wonder. LOL Re: Feedback on Ventura Homes, Perth 8Nov 30, 2010 6:27 pm hahaha!! Do you know who your CRO and SS is yet (don't write names on here obviously) but hopefully you get good ones - ours were great. If you are thinking of terminating the contract, I think they can charge you for any work they have done (paperwork etc), but I'm not 100% sure. Have a good read through your contract. Just remember if you leave and start with another builder, thats another 6 months or so on paperwork with a new builder! But at the same time you need to have confidence in your builder and if you don't trust them to build your home, then yeah I guess you don't want to end up regretting not leaving. Hope whatever you choose to do turns out well! We will see......if that happens, then they are within the commencement timeframe and we are locked into the journey come what may!! THanks again for your feedback, it really was encouraging. Re: Feedback on Ventura Homes, Perth 10Nov 30, 2010 6:56 pm I think it took approx a week from the day siteworks started on our block to when the slab went down. no worries!! Hope it goes well. I haven't posted at all since....should really put some more up when/IF it all gets underway. Re: Feedback on Ventura Homes, Perth 14Nov 30, 2010 8:25 pm Allycawthorn...glad to know they finally got back to you!!! Hang in there ... Perhaps all will go smoothly after this last hurdle!! I'm only comparing plans online now but am tossing between DA, Redink and ventura. Looking at Ventura mainly because they have more loft options... But I'm still not sure if I want to spend that extra bit for the loft. Otherwise it's the Hampton with DA or custom 5000 with redink July 2011 Signed up with Redink Sep 2011 Titles for Land Dec 2011 Plans approved by council 30 Jan 2012 SLABBED! The service so far has been shocking. It better be a good build based on how long it has taken! ive had the same as allycawthorn with waiting for email replied and phone calls. After looking through, we asked to be emaild about some additional details. That was over 6 months ago....never heard back form them. Today is under construction. Thank you for understanding. Re: Feedback on Ventura Homes, Perth 19May 03, 2011 5:11 pm Our Ventura house is going through approvals at the moment. Experiences have been good, except for a lack of communication from the contract administrator. Our sales rep was the best one we saw after visiting a good proportion of the display homes in Perth (all builders).
