Browse Forums Building A New House Re: 1st Build - Field River Estate - Long Awaited Update pg2 61Aug 03, 2011 5:06 pm Yowzer!!! Think its due in like 3 days lol. Think i'll get on top of that. We havent had many surprise costs. I've only had this, and a variation for our concrete piers being poured before slab (cost us $750). So if we can get away with our build and only $1,000 of hidden costs we weren't expecting/knew where coming. Then I guess we're laughing Re: 1st Build - Field River Estate - Long Awaited Update pg2 62Aug 03, 2011 5:12 pm Your house seemed jammed packed with workers today. Hope they're working for you! Re: 1st Build - Field River Estate - Long Awaited Update pg2 63Aug 03, 2011 7:35 pm newbuilder1 Your house seemed jammed packed with workers today. Hope they're working for you! Yes they were My actual front door is on. All skirting boards, door & window frames are on. Plus all doors are installed Now we'll experience a week of nothing lol Re: 1st Build - Field River Estate - Long Awaited Update pg2 64Aug 09, 2011 12:13 pm Drove past on the weekend, I have ensuite cupboards in my bedroom and Kitchen cupboards in the house. Nothing is installed yet, but the doors and handles are already on. I would have thought handles and doors would have been the last thing to go on. But ohhh well. The handles look great!!! We're exactly 10 weeks away from our expected completion date. Time will tell if it's accurate or not. We are eagerly awaiting our facade to be finished. We spent a lot of money on it (more than we were expecting to bother with a facade) Initially we were going to just have what ever brick we got for free, then thought, lets spend a bit extra and get render... ohhh and we like the render quoins, lets get those... ohh and sandstone.. loveeee sandstone.. before we knew it, we signed our contract with a facade worth almost 10% of our total build cost lol. I guess it comes down too, we only want to do this once. So lets do it right Really hope the next 10 weeks fly by ... it's hard to believe we sold our house and moved into a rental 10 months ago now. If we can handle 10 months, i'm sure 10 more weeks will be a walk in the park Re: 1st Build - Field River Estate - Long Awaited Update pg2 65Aug 09, 2011 12:23 pm Glad to see more things are being done now. Our handles went on pretty quickly too, not sure why but as soon as the doors were installed they went on. I guess we will see you in 10 weeks unpacking and we can all officially week. We have hand over tomorrow but wont be in for a few more weeks. Re: 1st Build - Field River Estate - Long Awaited Update pg2 66Aug 09, 2011 12:35 pm Sounds cool I just assumed when installing a kitchen. You'd do frames, doors and then handles. Save any damages. Etc, but I guess there is no logic in building. Also we arn't holding our breath about the 10 weeks. We feel they won't take our house seriously until they finish the 3 show homes Re: 1st Build - Field River Estate - Long Awaited Update pg2 67Aug 10, 2011 10:10 am Exciting to have your kitchen arrive. Strange about the handles. I've done about 3 kitchen renovations and they've always seemed to put the handles on at the end. Re: 1st Build - Field River Estate - Long Awaited Update pg2 68Aug 10, 2011 10:40 am THATS WHAT I THOUGHT!!! lol I dunno. Who knows... Fairmont drag their feet, do things in weird orders. But still, once done, their places look amazing. So I guess its a 'go forth and have faith' attitude Re: 1st Build - Field River Estate - Long Awaited Update pg2 69Aug 10, 2011 12:59 pm Hi there, Sounds like we're neck & neck with progress. Our kitchen, laundry, bathroom cupboards were also delivered last Friday and they were installed yesterday. Now the waiting game begins for a tiler to become available! Re: 1st Build - Field River Estate - Long Awaited Update pg2 70Aug 10, 2011 1:23 pm Yours were installed yesterday? Sounds like you're ahead lol But as you should be, if you didnt have trouble with your neighbours property etc etc etc. You would have been about 3 weeks ahead of us Re: 1st Build - Field River Estate - Long Awaited Update pg2 71Aug 31, 2011 10:40 am So a quick little update All electrical appears complete, Kitchen/bathroom/laundry cupboards are all installed. Bathtub is also in. So I think what I'm waiting for now is Internal * Tilings * Painting * Cornices * Robes * Door Handles * Water connection/fixtures (taps etc) [Appliance installation will occur after handover] External * Render * Sandstone * Painting of render, front door and downpipes * roller door I think thats it. Top 3 things on my agenda for after handover are * Storm water * Driveways & footpaths * Lighting fixtures Closely followed by landscaping ... ohh and of course installing appliances. Maybe it should be top 5. To summarize I will quote the catch phrase from my wife and I, during the process of building "COME ON YOU BLOODY HOUSE!!!!" Re: 1st Build - Field River Estate - Long Awaited Update pg2 72Aug 31, 2011 2:57 pm Haha! That could be my catch phrase as well. No one seems to have done any work on my house this week or at least, I haven't seen anyone there. My tiler looked at the place and said it could be finished in 4 weeks. They really just drag their feet with it. Re: 1st Build - Field River Estate - Long Awaited Update pg2 73Sep 05, 2011 4:50 pm Just got a letter stating our expected completion is approaching.... ahhhh From my checklist above all they have done is the cornices. Sooooo some render would be nice lol Re: 1st Build - Field River Estate - Long Awaited Update pg2 74Sep 05, 2011 5:16 pm Woo Hoo! saw yesterday (i know im snooping) but i think ur neighbours have moved in? They had a lot of stuff in their garage! Have they given you an exact date? Re: 1st Build - Field River Estate - Long Awaited Update pg2 75Sep 05, 2011 5:24 pm No exact date. Just stating that expected completion is approaching and what we need to keep in mind regarding this etc etc etc. From what I've seen for most people building with fairmont. Once they receive the letter, their walk through is about 5 weeks later. Yeah our neighbours moved in over the weekend, saw that as well. Will be good. I have 2 dogs, so fingers crossed I can get their fence up before we move in also. Would be fantastic Re: 1st Build - Field River Estate - Long Awaited Update pg2 76Sep 19, 2011 9:53 am Hey there, Whats the latest with your place? Seen trades there a fair bit lately so things must be moving along Our tiling was finished a week and half ago and not much has been done since which is very frustrating! Am looking forward to seeing a painter there. Our neighbours that have built already are really nice. We currently are living in roxby Downs so once our buidling starts would be great if anyone can keep an eye out for us too Re: 1st Build - Field River Estate - Long Awaited Update pg2 80Oct 10, 2011 11:19 am I Spied a worker working on ur house on a sunday. Must be trying to get it finished by the 18th. Looking good by the way. Are you getting the whole front rendered or just the coins? Sorry! I'm new to this forum and have made a mistake in my posting! I'm looking for a structural solution to a stand alone wooden pickets fence with no structural rail… 1 3290 Hi there, We’ve recently had plans approved to add a 1st storey addition to our existing house for a growing family in Sydney. With the current cost of building… 0 4296 I'd get the gutters to match your roof and pipes to match the paint - otherwise they become a feature. Nice pick with the paint colours! 1 34269 |
