How do you know him? Things are going great now, we've had some big issues, with the Bank stuffing up our progress payment amounts, needing to stop after slab to do a retaining wall etc etc. Going to do a big update tonight with some photos once I get home Re: 1st Build - Field River Estate - Salerno with Fairmont H 24May 17, 2011 3:20 pm I can't wait to see your pics, it's all so exciting - our roof went on yesterday and we're also getting a new fence done this week My husband Michael is friends with Dave and he said that his brother was building the Salerno in Trott Park - small world! Re: 1st Build - Field River Estate - Salerno with Fairmont H 25May 17, 2011 3:42 pm Veryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy small world I'm his youngest brother. Dave has gotten so excited about me building, he is thinking about knocking down his property in Chandlers Hill and and building a dream home. He's got the views, so why not. Re: 1st Build - Field River Estate - Salerno with Fairmont H 27May 17, 2011 3:59 pm Just a little bit of room…. His neighbours are currently spending 1.2m on a Alan Sheppard or Marshall Thompson home, I forget which. So him spending the money would make his street the one to be on. When are you starting up a forum for your stuff? You can post some pics on here if you like? It'd be cool to compare the build on the same house. Re: 1st Build - Field River Estate - Salerno with Fairmont H 28May 17, 2011 5:06 pm I don't think I'll start a build thread on here - I've kind of got all the photos on Facebook, so all my friends can see what's going on.... Are u the brother that got married recently? Brett? I can send u a f/r & u can see the pics there if you like? Re: 1st Build - Field River Estate - Salerno with Fairmont H 29May 17, 2011 5:24 pm Yep thats me... thanks I also have all my current pics on FB of build progress Re: 1st Build - Field River Estate - Salerno with Fairmont H 30May 18, 2011 9:54 am I hope you're still planning on putting some pics here...pretty please What stage is your build at? Re: 1st Build - Field River Estate - Salerno with Fairmont H 31May 19, 2011 5:18 pm Am I not mistaken to see if that is ur place which the frame work has just gone up on? Re: 1st Build - Field River Estate - Long Awaited Update pg2 32May 20, 2011 12:13 pm Ok ok ok ok ok ok ok ok ok ok ok ok okkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk so here it is. The catch up. We ran into major dramas with the bank. Our loan was all approved, however for the completely wrong amounts. Including the bank even listed my wife and I as defacto. Basically there was not one correct thing on the loan approval. Of which we had preapproval 2 days after applying for preapproval. When we applied for the loan. It took them 7 weeks!!!! To approve it. Which this loan was wrong. We then went back and said correct it. This took another 3 weeks!!!! All up it took us approx 10 weeks to get finance approval, on something we were preapproved for. FUN TIMES!!! NOT!!! Anyways, things started to get exciting, as the day our loan was approved and accepted, was the day that Fairmont came and sliced our block. Was a relatively quick process, slab was down in about 10 days after block cut. However this is when challenge number 2 occurred. We received a call from Fairmont stating that our works had ceased effective immediately, until we did our retaining wall on the southern boundry. This wall is 1.4m high and 26m long. Which we had to tier, because council, and the estate encumbarances don’t allow any single wall over 1m in height. Fun fun fun fun….. We found a fantastic company to do the retaining walls, they did all the mediating between myself and the neighbour and split costs proportionally based on what our engineer reports to council stated. Basically end up with a 65% - 35% split in costs. Us wearing the 65%, but so we should considering it was caused by us Any hoot, it took 3 weeks for this wall to be organised and built, which was fantastic, especially considering this included the 5 day easter long weekend (including ANZAC Day - Lest We Forget). The day I texted our SS stating 'THE WALL IS DONE!' Timber was delivered that very day, bricks were delivered the next. MAGIC Then 1 week after the frame was delivered, they started putting it up Monday 16th of May. I don't have pics of the roof timber yet. But this was delivered yesterday, and since there was no room at the front of the block they had to stack it on the frame. It looks very scary, sitting up there with a single stick of timber for support…. Anyways…. Pics below, enjoy .. Ohh and as we current stand, expected completion is meant to be 18th of October, but we will wait and see. Re: 1st Build - Field River Estate - Long Awaited Update pg2 36May 22, 2011 9:28 am Sounds like you’ve had a few obstacles to overcome. Good to see they’re making progress. I didn’t realise our expected completion dates were so close. Mine is the 26th of October. Will be interesting to see if they meet these dates as I’ve been told by someone in the industry that they’re running behind schedule. Re: 1st Build - Field River Estate - Long Awaited Update pg2 37May 22, 2011 12:14 pm Wow really close. What stage are you guys up to. Has bricking started? Re: 1st Build - Field River Estate - Long Awaited Update pg2 38May 22, 2011 2:56 pm No bricking yet. The bricks and a huge mound of sand got delivered last week. I'm hopeful I'll get some framing this week like you or else I'm afraid I'll be falling behind!! Re: 1st Build - Field River Estate - Long Awaited Update pg2 39May 22, 2011 4:13 pm Ok took some more pics yesterday Frame walls are up, fingers crossed they come back this week and do the roof.
