Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 29, 2010 12:01 am Hi All, My husband and I are building 'The Gala' in 'The Glades' Byford with Celebration Homes. We hope to have our slab down by Christmas. We are building in stage 2a...I can't wait for the lake to be finished in September next year! I'm looking forward to posting some pics very soon. Is anyone else out there building the Gala? Re: Building in 'The Glades' Byford with Celebration Homes. 2Nov 29, 2010 4:53 pm Hi we are not building the Gala however our house has a similar plan. We are building the Regal. We got our slab at the start of September and we now have a roof. Building with Celebrations has been great. No major issues as of yet and our Construction Co-ordinator is great. Good luck with your build. Re: Building in 'The Glades' Byford with Celebration Homes. 3Nov 30, 2010 11:39 am Hey there Kristyn & Luke, I’m also building at Byford. Not in The Glades but it’s a new home toooo. I originally looked at a few blocks in the The Glades but chose elsewhere. Dunno why!! I have no reason for this choice. I just liked the spot of the block that I chose. The house I’m building is a Bondi. It’s a slightly smaller home – leaving more yard for me to play in. “Aaaand lovin’ it”. (Yep – a Get Smart Fan….). My slab went down around the end of September sometime. I was away on holidays at the time. Now, I’m just awaiting for the roof tiles to arrive. I’m advised that I should be at ‘lock-up’ stage by Christmas, but my fingers are crossed at this prediction. But all should be well and good by around March-April. I’m getting a little excited now. I bet you guys are as well. Woooo Hoooo. Hi Luke, I just had a look at the Regal - it looks alot like the Gala - I like the fact that you have a study - the Gala doesn't have one We have had a really positive experience with Celebrations so far too . We actually started with another builder but the service was so bad we asked for our deposit back and went straight to Celebrations. Where abouts are you building Luke? Did you buy your land titled? I bet you are really excited the fact that your roof is going on. I'm just hanging out for my slab...my husband and I bought the land in December last year and didn't get titles until August this year so I'm sooooo excited about actually seeing something happening Are you a local already or do you have a long way to drive to check on the progress of your home? Re: Building in 'The Glades' Byford with Celebration Homes. 6Dec 03, 2010 10:50 am It did take a while for the completion of paperwork from the council. They either have a lot of paperwork coming their way at the moment – or they are just slack!!! Tee hee. I’m not a local… yet… I live up in the hills, so I drive over nearly every weekend for a gig at what’s going on. There are just soooo many homes going up. Although over this Christmas period you’ll find that not much will be happening. But will then power on again late January. We too were about to sign with another builder however after loads of delays and overall a shocking experience we walked away and signed with Celebrations the following day. Our sales consultant is amazing and and our construction consultant and site supervisor have been great. They allowed us to make changes to the plan and to our fittings. We have not looked back. We are almost at lockup now. Our slab went down in early September and considering the house is 312sqm in total I think their construction speed it great! The quality to date has been fantastic. The render job is great! Could not be happier! I hope your experience is as good as ours has been. It is very reassuring to read your post! I think Aubin Grove is really nice, my brother lives there...it's a great location! I can't believe you are at lock up already!!! Do you have a build thread? Would love to see photos of your house progress Re: Building in 'The Glades' Byford with Celebration Homes. 18Dec 13, 2010 6:45 pm Hey Kristyn, yeah our frames were deliverd ages ago, there was strong winds a couple of weeks ago and some of the frames were blown over and damaged. So i let celebrations know. i dont want bung window frames in my house haha the builder said their bricky team is just finishing off one of the houses and then they will make a start on ours. We didnt get down there this weekend, planning to head down maybe this sunday arvo haha yes we went snooping the other weekend too my partners sister is building in the Scarp byford with impressions, i went up there not last sunday the one before and they had a slab with just bricks. then a couple of days after all the walls were up! amazing how quick they go up. so i cant wait till we have bricks what brick did u choose? are u a red brick or a cream brick house? Would love to see photos of your house progress Our experience with our first builder was shocking. We waited 8 weeks for plans to be drawn up and then when they were finally drawn up they could not explain any of the structural pricing and when questioning the pricing we were basically told they had no idea why we were being charged the extra 50K however if we wanted the house we just had to pay it. Then they said we had 24 hours to review the plans, were told no more adjustments to the plan could be made and that a deposit had to dropped off the following day and the contract had to be signed that day also. Our sales consultant was so rude to my wife I was speechless. I tore up the contract that day and we rang Celebrations that day. We met with Celebrations the following day and signed with them 3 days later with our plans drawn up and all. Our Celebrations house is the same size, similar plan, better spec and came in 8K cheaper. Plus its great quality. We have never looked back. This is the 2nd house I have built and I will build with Celebrations again. They are great! Re: Building in 'The Glades' Byford with Celebration Homes. 20Dec 14, 2010 10:40 pm Hey Krystin… Congrats on your slab. It sounds like Celebrations are a great way to go. I’m not building with them – but I’ve had not a problem either and things are going very smoothly. I HAVE A ROOF NOW…. Wooooo Hooooo. I’m so excited….!!! Ask for references and speak to them. If they are defensive or try to avoid the request, walk. 1 74682 I would never build with Fowler homes. I built with them in 2021 and till date maintenance issues are pending.
