Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 23, 2010 10:05 pm Well, just got costings for the cornices etc we selected at our Studio M appt and it's come to nearly $5,000! So, I'm wondering what thoughts are on just going with standard, why people did/didn't upgrade. Seems like it's money I could spend on other things, but I guess you could say that about anything when it comes to building a house! Anyway, just interested in feedback again Re: Upgrading cornices, skirting and architraves 2Nov 24, 2010 4:14 pm We got an upgraded cornice as standard with our builder, but to be honest, if I didn't get it I wouldn't have bothered with it. Standard cornice looks good anyway. If you are going to have floorboards and really desire the extra height for the skirting, then I'd probably do that, but again I don't think it's something you'd worry about if you didn't do it. There's plenty of other things I'd rather spend 5k on I reckon. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. I know which upgrade I'd prefer. Have decided, money better spent elsewhere I already have the doors and architraves installed as pictured. My question is which size n type of skirting would go with the architraves?
