Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 23, 2010 9:18 am I am trying to get a rough plan to take to a draughtsman so I have been playing around with ideas but my head is spinning. I thought someone here would like to take a look and give me some ideas. Quick summary: We are on 5 acres. It is a knock down rebuild I would like living areas on north side, but we always spend time outside on the south side ie views, kids playing privacy all south side. My DH may end up working from home with clients visiting so I need separate office with toilet access. I also need 4 bedrooms. Laundry needs to be on east side with mud room if possible. Large WIP please. Other than that I am open to ideas. The original house ****** on east-west axis and is about 10m wide so I would love to keep the same shape so I don't have to knock any trees over. Here is my poor attempt at photoshop: http://i1143.photobucket.com/albums/n623/mrssw/Mrswplans.jpg Re: Please help: my head is spinning 2Nov 23, 2010 9:36 am The dining/lounge area looks very open... almost too open. The shape of the sitting room and master b/r could be better. The main bathroom seems small (in comparison to other rooms) and with only one basin (?). Re: Please help: my head is spinning 3Nov 23, 2010 9:51 am Have a look at the floorplan of the M.etricon Denver 43. Might give you some ideas to play around with as it sounds similar to what you are after. http://www.metricon.com.au/melbourne/ho ... r-plans/43 I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. You could conside making the drawing room the study/office and then they could use the powder room for the toilet? I love the verandas at the front of the house, if only I could swap the floor plan vertically. Joles, I love the Denver plans but do you think it will be too dark on the south side in the family room if I put walls between north and south side. I would like it to be energy efficient home as we only have wood fire for heating. Don, I know it looks awkward, but not sure what to do about it! Love the ideas though. Thank you. I'll look into different shower heads and ask the plumber about some engineering and see what he says. Thanks 2 9535 If you can calculate the reasonable charged head from let's say 100mm below the gutter to the top of where the vertical riser's horizontal discharge pipe will be, that… 11 17516 Thankyou so much 😀 I've decided on White on white for doors and trims, White on white 50% on ceiling and Mt buller for walls. Fingers crossed it will look OK 😀 2 7079 |
