Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 19, 2010 11:56 am Hi All, I am new to this site. I have seen from all the other forums that i am not only one who is, lets just say V. annoyed by one builders example of what they call a company. I am not going to name the company publically although i should at this point, as they are loosing integrity with me as we speak. I was just curious as to whether anyone else has had the same things said and done to them throughout there process of getting to slab down. We first signed for our block in Feb-10. We sold our first home that we built in May-10 awaiting titles to come through. Titles did not come through from memory until around June-10. In July-10 we signed our Prelim Contract with the builder and signed for our house plans to go to drafting and paid the initial deposit required in order for this to happen. We were told that there would be a slight wait before these would be ready. However there was no mention to us as the client that to draft our house plans, this would take 17 weeks. Lets not forget here that they are only pre lim plans.. ?? We went to Pre Start on the 5th Nov-10 and i am still awaiting final costings to our variations. Its now the 19th Nov-10 and we still not have our final drawings ready. No contract in place, and according to the builder our plans were only submitted to council on the 10th Nov, when we were told they were submitted on the 4th of this month. Here was hoping we would have a slab down before Xmas, and now we have been told January. This is our second build, and i thought the first time round was bad. This build hasn't even started yet, and by far wins hands down. I would love to hear from people who are having similar problems in the building world. It would make me feel a lot better to know there are more people out there other than me. Darchie Re: How building frustrates you? 2Nov 19, 2010 3:37 pm Hiya Darchie, Take a stroll over to my thread and you can read all about my 16 month tale of misery and frustration. Last week marked 12 months since we signed our PPA and we only received our 'almost' final plans on Wednesday. I can understand completely how you feel - the stress and frustration of it all is really draining, but pleasedo not give up... My advice to you is to bring up your unhappiness with your builder. We did in a rather lengthy email and it heralded a completly new relationship between ourselves and the builder. We should have done it a long time ago as the service we are now receiving is all we had ever asked for (good communication and timeliness) Good luck! We have a big drop at the back of our block, that we have been told is going to have the soil pushed up to form more blocks once the land is sold off. Unfortunatly i think from reading other peoples blogs, that we are going to be up for a retaining wall.. although i could be wrong. I see you had some troubles with site costs.. Terrible! Our builder it doesnt seem to matter if we complain write our dissatisfaction in an email, or just genuinely tell them we are peeved off to the max. They just dont seem to care! I do hope this changes in the near future. I am ready to pull the plug, the only thing stopping me is that going with another builder at this point would take a lot longer than to just wait it out. Where has all the customer service gone in the world? Re: How building frustrates you? 4Nov 22, 2010 8:17 pm there are heaps of other unhappy customers all with a new builder up north i really do wonder what's going on if they are so busy why not hire more staff?
