Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 18, 2010 8:37 pm Hi,
I have been an avid reader of this forum and thought it only fair (since I have watched many homes being built and taken many tips from) that I would share my build. I am building with Stylemaster Homes in North Brisbane. I have found them very approachable and helpful and in the first month after the site scrape, I was emailing them probably every day to find out timetables of the build This is my first build. My sister built with another builder in the Estate and told me about their latest land release. In Jul 09, I put my name down on the piece of land and was advised that it would be registered by Dec 09. So I sold my unit and moved in with the parents to try to save as much money as possible. This is my piece of law in the raw (Sorry about the photos being so large (new to this)): Finally the land was officially registered and settled in Jun 2010: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ After, what it seemed, hundreds of display homes later, I signed with Stylemaster Homes and this is my floor plan: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ My colour selections are: External: Brick - PGH Moondust with white mortar Roof - Boral Staita Gunmetal tiles Gutters/Fascias - Monument Garage Door - Night Sky Render (just around the front) - Solver Stones Throw Front Door - Solver Stones Throw Internal: Paint - Solver Smoke Pearl Bathroom vanities - Laminex Silk finish Mushroom Linea Bathroom Counters - Osprey Ceasarstone Kitchen Cupboards- Laminex Silk finish Mushroom Linea Kitchen Counters - Osprey Ceasarstone Bedrooms 1,2 & 3 - to be carpeted The rest of house - tiled Wow, just typing out the colour selection has got me thinking of the colours (it's been so long since I have seen them). Scootergirl Re: Scootergirl's first build 3Nov 18, 2010 9:21 pm Before you get too far into the electrics, may I suggest that the extra wiring be put in for a ceiling fan in each of the rooms. I noticed on your plan theres only one fan, even if you don't fit the fans soon at least the wiores in the ceiling ready for the fitment. Might cost some extra now, will be worth it though. Scootergirl's first build 4Nov 18, 2010 9:23 pm Hey, it's looking amazing. You must be so happy. I love the colour around your windows. It's amazing how quick they build them hey. I am late with starting with my thread as Electrics and plumbing have already been done. I was trying not to bore anyone but uploading all my photos at once. I believe I will be locked out very soon (bricks have been completed and cornices going up). kpatch, thanks I really liked my block because it backed onto a Woodland (rumours around the estate is that koalas have been spotted in there from time to time). I see you have started construction, in no time you will be locked out too.... I also love your fridge (is it a wish or a reality??) Re: Scootergirl's first build 6Nov 19, 2010 8:42 am HAHA Scootergirl, it is totally a wish but hopefully in the new year it will become a reality. We have requested a bigger space for the fridge in our floor plans and have put the capped water point in. It better become reality after all of that...haha. Koalas would be fantastic!! I hope you get some popping by. Well you may be locked out but someone told me there is always a key. you just have to find it or just leave a window a little bit open. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=40976 Aug 26/10 -Land settle Oct 1-Signed UE Nov 4 -Site Cut 22 -Slab 26 -Frame Dec 17 -Lock Up Feb 1/11 -Fixing Mar 31+Apr 14 -PCI cancelled Re: Scootergirl's first build 7Nov 19, 2010 1:06 pm Yay you have a thread! We also used moondust bricks too. There's prob a few pics on my thread! At the time when we selected the brick, they were a fairly new brick - only 6 months old. We got 2 or 3 addresses to view houses that had used the brick at n/lakes. It's such a neautral brick that I think majority of colours work with it. Every house we saw had used a different colour scheme. We used surfmist and dune on our house and that seemed to work well. I'm very much liking the darker colours you have used too - it will look really good! Re: Scootergirl's first build 8Nov 19, 2010 5:46 pm Ok, more of a bombardment of photos:
