I did pay for an handover inspector who found no issues which again was a relief. My Site supervisor also went around and put little red dots around the house (which I missed). Handover was booked in for 11.30 on Friday - 18 Feb. So I made a few appointments with trades (Landscaper and Carpet (to get measured)). The day started of well with my landscaper and then I got a lovely message from my carpet people who, although my address is on my contract with them, was calling to cancel as they didn't realise how far my home was from their store. After a conversation with the store (I purchased the carpet at a home show so the store was about 3/4 hours away from my home) finally agreed to get a closer store to measure up on Saturday at 12. It was better than waiting until Monday Tuesday, so said yes. Arrived at Handover at 11.30 and started with the official paperwork with my site supervisor when two guys walk in and ask if this was Lot *** and that they were from the carpet company for a measure appointment. Lucky I had my father with me, who started the Carpet guys measuring whilst I was listening to the termite and smoke detector information. Well apart from the carpet issue, Handover went well. Received all the keys and paperwork and finally it was mine. So here I thought the day couldn't go any worse (bad grammar I know), I phone the tile place to check that the tiles that I asked to be delivered after 1pm were on it's way which the answer was yes. My father and I sit in an empty house for 3 hours and then I started to worry. I phone again and was told that they would get back to me. 30-45 minutes later 4.30pm, the sales woman phones and advises that she is sorry but the tiles missed the truck and wont be delivered until Monday morning. NOT HAPPY JAN as I had a tiler starting at 6.30 Monday morning and that if the tiles were not here, I will want to be compensated for my tradespeople not starting on time. So haven't slept much on the weekend as worrying about the tiles arriving, the tiler to not accept another job that could push the tiling back a week etc.... I currently live about 3/4 hours away from my house, so up at 5 to go over to the house today, praying that the times arrive as promised (after a bit of stern talking to the tile place) at 6.30.... they arrived 6.40 I will post some photos in a separate post. Handover (tick) 23Feb 21, 2011 1:44 pm I have just realised that because I have been busy organising trades and worrying about what could go wrong, I don't actually have many photos that actually show the house and the inside. I mainly have pictures of imperfection on walls and appliances. Once the tiling is complete, I promise some actual photos. I have booked the removalists for the 8th March and going to take 2 weeks off...... I have to admit I have been very lucky compared to some of the stories I have read on this forum. Stylemaster made building my first house very easy as they were always willing to help and answer any questions I had. Re: Scootergirl's first build 30Mar 22, 2011 8:39 pm It's been a month since my last post. Things have been busy. I took 2 weeks off the move in and get everything finished.. but that didn't actually happen. I moved in on Tuesday, fell ill on Thursday and didn't feel 100% until the next Thursday, then on the Sunday again... ILL. So I didn't get much down. I haven't finished unpacking but from what I have heard, it can take a while. With lots of fertiliser. If it starts looking a bit sad, throw it on thick and water it in! Your glass will grow like it's on steroids and you'll get a work out mowing it. Nice looking house you've got there too. Re: Scootergirl's first build 35Apr 23, 2011 3:25 pm Just a quick update... Having my first family easter lunch (sill haven't fully unpacked - but family don't mind). Making Donna Hay's Chicken and Halomi in honey (fingers crossed it works out). My lawn needs a mow but the rain just won't stop and let the ground dry out. I have had a problem with some of my lilly pillies (as seen in my other thread in Lanscapes and Designs - What I am doing wrong". But here a couple of pictures of the landscaping after a few weeks of growing: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Next thing to do is get a gate for the side and a deck for the alfresco.
