Looks amazing. Love the fascade. It it painted or tinted render? Ignore my PM to you, I just sent one asking how you went and explaining that I feel like a dork going there tomorrow but feel so much better now that you seem to be as "enlightened " as me.. he,hehe. Hopefully its all good and we too can have some of the good gyprocking!!! Bring it on! The other 3 sides are just Moroka in an attempt to keep the cost down, but I kinda wish we'd just rendered the lot as the Moroka in our paint colour really just looks like painted brickwork to me Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Building customised Masterton Fernleigh contract 7 April level 1 July slab 19 July frame delivered 30 July frame completed 27 Aug 10 roof started/gutters 27 Sept bricks & render finished 27 Oct frame inspection 17 Nov viewtopic.php?f=31&t=41222&p=618417&hilit=fernleigh#p618417 Re: Building a Fernleigh 5Nov 19, 2010 10:22 am Wow TD! That looks amazing! Great alfresco! I think you've done everything that I would loved to have done with the house! (Grannyflat & alfresco) Now that you've mastered photos would love to see plans *cheeky* [if you've got a copy you can open on your computer you can do a print screen and open into 'paint' then just trim and erase stuff that you don't want to show and save again to photobucket/flickr etc and include with your post...]. If you're not comfortable posting publicly I understand just curious Thanks for posting the photos but be warned we're never satisfied with a few pictures - we always want more! Sensational! I really really really love what you've done! You've had some great ideas - that guest room is fabulous! [I'm jealous!] and converting part of the upstairs lounge into a second suite - I like your thinking! The toilet under the stairs - pure genius although I don't think DH would have parted with his wine cellar! Looking forward to seeing it all come together! The inside stuff will happen really quickly! Super! I love it. Agree with MrsRose re. making a second ensuite upstairs - great idea. And gorgeous generous alfresco (looks like sabs1's alfresco a bit...). I actually quite like the Moroka look, a bit softer than straight render. btw, what colour Moroka did you choose? Funny thing, I really like Moroka on most of the pictures posted on other peoples threads, but somehow ours doesn't have the same look, which maybe cos i think they've only done one coat and maybe the look builds up after the second coat? ONe question - what have you got planned for your steps? We are still thinking about our options - from the alfresco . Ahh the steps... what a nightmare. We originally had the house mirror reversed, but to get it through as CDC we had to flip it which meant a 10 brick course drop with a huge DEB to the front right of the house.... which then meant 5 or 6 stairs from the front patio to the ground. MH tender was almost $3k for the stairs & hand rail so i had a minor tanty and told them to delete the steps from the tender (they then said how will the tradies get into the house & i said i didnt care - but it was ok cos everyone just goes through the garage so anyway, the upshot is i cut my nose off to spite my face cos i'm sure the stairs & handrail will still be like $2k and we need them for OC - that'll teach me a lesson in tantrum throwing Your alfresco looks like its quite high from the back garden... what's the plan? have you had quotes yet? We have designed ours with concrete steps cut into the alfresco slab (Northern Elevation plans on my thread might make more sense). We went concrete to reduce maintenance in the future as timber would be fully open to the rain / sun etc. Just a thought. sabs1 - I remember asking you about this months ago, but at the time you hadn't thought about it yet. What are you tending towards? We're madly getting quotes for stairs and driveway... really want a circular drive... Went past today & hooray the incredible gyprockers have made short work of our place - in 2 days they've finished all the walls and ceilings, ready for lockup hopefully tomorrow maybe??? Is that a stacker or bifold? Yakka1 Hi Jakka - it's a stacker... I love bifolds but I love flyscreens even more which you can get with the stacker... although I think you can get them with bifolds but they're the retractable ones. Word to the wise though - when they installed our stackers we should have insisted they protected the lower tracks cos now they're clogged with cement and dirt and general building crap so they dont run smoothly on the track - Howard Ryan noted it on our inspection report though so hopefully they can get them cleaned as good as new otherwise i guess they'll have to replace them Building customised Masterton Fernleigh contract 7 April level 1 July slab 19 July frame delivered 30 July frame completed 27 Aug 10 roof started/gutters 27 Sept bricks & render finished 27 Oct frame inspection 17 Nov viewtopic.php?f=31&t=41222&p=618417&hilit=fernleigh#p618417 Re: Building a Fernleigh 19Nov 28, 2010 9:02 pm sunny_and_warm WOW! Yep, LOVE the colour. But your new place looks just spectacular! Fantastic that you have been able to retain that tree and vegetation at the front. So many new places look so empty without established trees. Your suburb looks lovely and green. Best of both worlds Thanks for posting the pics.
