We're not sure about the first row of bricks not being rendered. We weren't expecting that.... The balcony section will be rendered in paperbark. And the other little decorative projection in the front will be rendered in ironstone. Garage roof trusses have been put on and the roof should come by the end of the week....we're getting a flat roof. Front cladding up on the balcony will be painted Jasper (the side bits have been done already before the scaffolding got taken down). Re: Overwhelmed's Brookvale 45 by PD...spa bath n other pics! 13Oct 03, 2009 10:48 am Week 20 I went early in the morning and the carpenter was working so I got to have a quick look in the house and took a few pics. All the skirting boards are in. Internal doors have been hung. Window frames are done and boy does it look different with all those things in!!! This is a pic of the upstairs guest room. It's the only room where we put doors on the wir and ensuite as we plan on using this room as an upstairs living area. None of our other ensuites or wirs have doors. I think I kind of regret that. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Ooooh the spa for the master ensuite has been delivered. We ended up getting this spa because there is no other bath tub in the whole house. I know I know....a 5 ensuite house and no provision for a bath tub unless we sacrificed 2 ensuites to make a central bathroom with a bath. So this spa bath was a compromise. We need a bathtub in the house....where else am I going to soak in a kazillion bubbles??? Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The area under the stairs has been framed ready for plaster. When we were purchasing the house....putting deposit on and doing the first sales quote....we asked for a door under the stairs....thought it would be good for storing stuff....but by tender, we were informed that PD don't do this. Sigh.....Such a big space under there....waste of space. I told the carpenter that it's such a waste of space and he said that all owners say that...but Porter Davis don't allow it. Sigh!! Overwhelmed's Brookvale 45 by PD...oh no front door issues! 14Oct 05, 2009 9:42 pm I got a phone call from SS today saying that we have an issue with our front door. Carpenter has just put on our front door as we have had a temporary door since lock up. And now that they've gone to put our handle and deadlock on, the carpenter and SS had some concerns as to how to make it all fit nicely. Our door - Corinthian Madison 104 Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Handle that we chose - Gainsborough Horizon 600mm handle (one on inside and one on outside) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Lock - Gainsborough double cylinder deadlock in chrome Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Our SS made me realise that 1. since it's a double cylinder deadlock...it will drive me crazy as I will always need to have a key to open the door from the inside. 2. He's also doubtful that there will be enough room to have the handle and deadlock side by side half way up the door as the side panel of the door where all this goes is quite narrow....he feels that it will be difficult to open the door. 3. He also says that with the length of the handle....the lock will look funny if it is above or below the bar. I don't think that will look nice. -------------- So help!!!!! What should I do? Can it be done? Will my key problem be solved if I change my double cylinder deadlock to just a single cylinder deadlock? Can both handle and lock fit on the madison door? If you have any photos....please show me. I am curious to see if there is enough room to insert a key in the lock easily. Urgh!!!! We wanted a standard staircase as we wanted it carpeted. And we paid for the bottom rail of our staircase to be stained to match the handrail. Except....PD informed us a week into construction that they hadn't charged us for stain grade treads.....we were getting MDF treads. Anyways....we agreed to just choose a paint colour to match our stained hand rail. We met with our painter to choose a paint colour when he suggested staining the balustrades and posts. We've decided to give it a go....if we don't like it...we can always paint them the white they were supposed to be.
