Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 15, 2010 1:01 pm Hi there, Some of the bricks on my house are discoloured and appear to be "wet". The colour is not consistent across the wall and now the builder has told me that it is caused by moisture. Does this sound right? None of the other bricks have been affected by this moisture which leads me to believe that they're not being totally honest with me. Please advise if you have heard of this or if you know what else may cause this darker colour (bricks and mortar) on my house. thanks, Karen Re: Brick query- Does this sound right? 2Nov 15, 2010 1:30 pm Yes, I've heard of one area of bricks being affected by moisture (seen it). Without seeing your affected and non-affected areas (both - for comparison), it couldbe hard to say what caused the different colour (other than what the builder already said). The next question I'd be asking them is "why did this happen" and "How will you fix it". My signature is distracting people from my wise posts ... How long - I guess it depends on a few things, eg. how saturated the bricks are, where are they located on the house, which side of the house (north, south ?), are they overshadowed etc. If they don't get full sun, the time to dry might take months (but it all depends).
