Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 14, 2010 9:37 am Hi I have a dilema in that i am unsure whether to keep my benchtops consistant throutout the entire house, or whether to have wet areas different to kitchen? Does anyone have any thoughts/suggestions? thanks Re: Bench tops same in kitchen and wet areas? 2Nov 14, 2010 9:39 am I was told if you can't see the two benchtops from a single view, you can choose different ones if you wish I personally went for different wet area benchtops vs kitchen bench tops. Some people like to keep them all the same. Just as long as it's consistent with the overall look and feel of the house! Building at Warner Lakes in sunny Queensland. Building with Bold Properties. I have the same paint, same doors, same cabinets and same flooring (3 types) throughout my house, and all the benches (except the laundry - didn't want to pay for CS there!) are all the same. I chose a very close to matching laminex for the laundry instead of stone. No 2 of my benches can be seen from the same place, but I still wanted them all the same anyway, and very neutral. I put ceasar stone in the kitchen but went for laminate in the bathrooms, so the lower door laminate from the kitchen is the bench top in the bathrooms and the upper cupboard doors is the unit colour of the vanity. I did Quantum Quartz New Diamond White 40mm in the kitchen Laminex White Valencia in the Pantry and laundry Quantum Quartz Starlight Black in the Powder and Ensuite Quantum Quartz Rio in the bathroom. All works fine as the rooms are quite separate. Not what everyone would like but we love it. Re: Bench tops same in kitchen and wet areas? 8Nov 14, 2010 1:44 pm Thanks everyone for your assistance, pics and colour schemes. Take2 i love your idea, that is fabulous. However i have decided to have white cupboards, so that wouldnt work for me - PS kitchen and bathroom look beautiful. Stormygirl, i just checked our your thread ( your house is beautiful) because i wanted to see your benches in your bathroom, and i think i have decided to be consistant throughout. I was concerned they would be too plain, but they are not. My laundry may be visible from the kitchen, so that was the final decider (thanks helyn & higherdestiny). BTW Stormygirl, just wondering how you have found the diamond gloss in the laundry? Have you found that it scratches easily? Re: Bench tops same in kitchen and wet areas? 9Nov 14, 2010 2:29 pm Hi Drayto, Thanks! No, I haven't found the Diamond Gloss to scratch easily at all. In fact I don't think we have any scratches at all and we haven't specifically been terribly careful either....it is a laundry, anyway! I have more scratches on my floor than the benches...but that's a different story.... I prefer to have fairly plain looking benches and cupboards so that you can add colours and textures with decorating 'things'. I figured that way it wouldn't date too quickly and I can change the look instantly if I wanted to. Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... I love my house!! Me... I am a matching freak so I went for the same stone as the kitchen in the bathrooms. But its perfectly fine to have different Re: Bench tops same in kitchen and wet areas? 11Nov 14, 2010 7:26 pm I have c/stone tops in kitchen and bathroom (Osprey), the same. THat's just me though. You should do what you like. It's handy if you can't decide between2, you can use both! www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Re: Bench tops same in kitchen and wet areas? 12Nov 14, 2010 7:42 pm We got caesarstone benches in the kitchen, ice snow, and laminate pietra snow in bathrooms. We weren't fussed, building with M, and the colour person at Stuido M suggested matching the benchtops. Good luck with your choice Re: Bench tops same in kitchen and wet areas? 13Nov 14, 2010 9:40 pm Mine are different. The kitchen has granite benchtops with slightly off-white cupboards. The bathrooms are all the same - Rock Salt Velvet cupboards with a white top (moulded basin). The laundry had the Rock Salt Velvet cupboards, but with a charcoal laminate top.
