To try and make this as short as possible, we had a concern with our site cut from the start of our build, this is a pic that shows just the back right hand corner of our block, as you can see from the pic we are lower than the houses you can see in the background and we dont understand why. We have spoken to builders around us (all independant builders not volume builders) and they all expressed their disbelief at why we had a severe sitecut as ours, they did not do it on their blocks, one builder told me that is the way volume builders make their money, making you pay for excavations etc that you dont need.
Our main concern is that we now have to put in a retaining wall (extra $$$) and agg pipes that we dont have and on our dead side, which is only 1 metre wide, we are going to have a drainage problem as we are unable to have the land sloping away from the slab, and we believe down the track we are going to have problems with our slab. (sorry dont have pic of this side)
We have bought up these concerns with the builder and we have a meeting on site Monday week. We would like to be armed with as much knowledge/info as we can so that they cant just dismiss this. We dont want to get a land survey done as I believe this would be costly. We believe that's why we pay for site costs so that the builder can get all this done correctly in the first place.
Any thoughts or assistance greatly appreciated.
