Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 02, 2011 10:59 am We have been building for over 16 months now. We used a qualified builder to get us to lock up stage and have been owner builders since that time'and have fitted out most of the house ourselves! The stress of this build has been doubled with a new baby and another on the way!! Arrggg!! We have started rendering our house and need to choose a contrasting colour ASAP. Its almost like we have lost the ability to make decisions, everything has happened slowly but decisions have had to be made so quickly, if that makes sense! Our roof, gutters etc, windows and garage door are all Colorbond Monument! We have chosen Monument render for the back of our house and sides but need a contrasting colour for the garage and the facade at the front of house. We love Monument and are really happy with the render so far, but are struggling to find a colour to match it as we want to stick with the grey shade!! No blue grey, no green grey etc!! Can someone please help with a colour that will match Monument?? Re: HELP we have started rendering and cant choose 2nd colou 2Jun 02, 2011 3:59 pm This any use? http://www.colorbondcolours.com/home/re ... ur-schemes I think something lighter like colourbond surmist or similar would probably work well. The way I worked out my colour scheme was to find a picture of a house I liked and then copied all the colour choices from that. Re: HELP we have started rendering and cant choose 2nd colou 3Jun 02, 2011 4:22 pm Thank you for replying!! I have looked on that site and as we are really trying to stick to shades of grey, it really only gave us one option, which was "Shale Grey". I just went and got a sample pot and will try it out!! Fingers crossed.. http://s1103.photobucket.com/albums/g464/Anna27_Paul29/ There are some pics of the front of our place on there. We want to have the cnotrasting colour on the garage wall into the entrance and then the far right wall as we will paint the wall with the three windows in Monument too!! HELP we have started rendering and cant choose 2nd colour!! 5Jun 02, 2011 11:23 pm d@n Garage in shale grey will make for a very strong contrast. Considering that the majority of your house is dark, it will make the garage really stand out. d@n, how do you think Dulux Stepney would look? Re: HELP we have started rendering and cant choose 2nd colou 7Jun 03, 2011 3:56 pm Can't help with a colour, sorry... except I think dark would look good. Gotta say when I read how much Monument you had going on, I thought it would look a bit much BUT I LOVE YOUR HOUSE!!! I guess all those windows and the fact you can't see a lot of roof make it work? Looks beautiful! Good luck on finding your perfect colour to go with it Re: HELP we have started rendering and cant choose 2nd colou 8Jun 03, 2011 4:16 pm Now I've seen the pics, I agree a darker colour is better and my original suggestions of a lighter colour wouldn't really work. Where abouts is the house? Looks like you are near a lake or inlet or similar? Re: HELP we have started rendering and cant choose 2nd colou 9Jun 29, 2011 12:13 pm Hi there, thanks for the suggestions. We went with Stepney and we LOVE it! HUGE thanks to SUH!!! I've put some pics of the finished product on photobucket!! (Taken with my mobile so a bit ******* haha)! Thank you Buzz for the nice comments too! Veefy, we are in Tasmania, we are right on the waterfront on the eastern shore! http://s1103.photobucket.com/albums/g464/Anna27_Paul29/ Re: HELP we have started rendering and cant choose 2nd colou 13Jun 30, 2011 1:40 pm Wow AnnaX. I want your home! (Have you got any pictures of the inside?) I was going to suggest wind spray. That colour looks great Is it possible to render an old corrugated iron shed.I have heard that it can be done if it is covered with chicken wire first. Not sure of the ratio of the render mix and… 0 4911 Dear Members I have to decide the Facade column size. My custom builder standard is 350mm with rendering, but i asked for 470mm plus stone or tiles and yet to get… 0 7557 yep you need a joint, foam is easiest, will look fine once rendered with a joint. 2 5253 |
