Finally someone was working on it today. We went through the house with a fine tooth comb to find any faults. Overall it wasn't to bad, just a few seals here and there, a few mortar spots to be filled, lots of paint splashes to be cleaned, a very detailed clean needed and the whole house needs to be re-painted. The paint job is that bad that the list was getting that long and there was so many patches missed that we figure we are just going to demand the house be painted again. It is meant to be a 3 coat system although in some spots you can see the plaster still. So if all goes to plan, PCI next Thursday and then 10days to fix all issues and then handover...YAY!!! I am getting so excited now, my head cannot hold anymore decorating ideas!!! AAAAHHH, but good news is, all packed and ready to go. Have a new phone number and home phone set up sorted, foxtel sorted and now just gas and energy sorted! Oh and the very important insurance. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=40976 Aug 26/10 -Land settle Oct 1-Signed UE Nov 4 -Site Cut 22 -Slab 26 -Frame Dec 17 -Lock Up Feb 1/11 -Fixing Mar 31+Apr 14 -PCI cancelled Kate & Dean - Urbanedge Build - Latest PICS! None of the doors on the top have been painted also none of the architrave tops have been painted. It's just ******* all over. On saying that, I love your colours!! We have gone for similar. I wanted dark floor tiles (after seeing them in a display home) but chickened out and went for a lighter grey. Now seeing yours, I wish I had stuck with what I originally wanted. We already have ours on layby so will lose all our money if we change. Hopefully you will get it sorted soon. Well we have our final payment to hold if they don't paint it again and hopefully they will want their money and they will paint it. I looked at your tiles I think they will look great. PCI Thurs 67Mar 28, 2011 7:26 am kpatch, that paint job is appalling, before you talk to your builder, go around the house and rip more tape off the walls, if the paint is peeling like that everywhere, just repainting it is not going to fix anything. Paint only peels like that if they have not use a proper undercoat, if they simply paint over it, you will probably get bubbles and blistering within a few years. If the painter and builder dispute this, ring the manufacturer of the paint that was applied to your walls and tell them you have a complaint about their product and get them involved. If you need any information about paint, let me know, even PM me and I will do what I can to help Current status: Busy making the house our home Built PD Francis 29 on our 576m2 block at Reflections in Tarneit Reflections Estate Thread Our Build Thread Kate & Dean - Urbanedge Build - Latest PICS!!! PCI Thurs 68Mar 28, 2011 2:25 pm Thanks for the advice wizard. I'm really disappointed with it. We are going to the house today and I'll pull some tape off and see. I did go to the house earlier and the painter was there. I asked him if he was doing the feature wall today and of course knows nothing about it. Then I call the builder and of course state they had told the painters. I also asked the painter why the top of the doors and the top of the architraves aren't painted and they tell me they never do it's not part of current practice to paint them, but can't help feeling ripped off. I see big issues at pci on Thursday!! viewtopic.php?f=31&t=40976 Aug 26/10 -Land settle Oct 1-Signed UE Nov 4 -Site Cut 22 -Slab 26 -Frame Dec 17 -Lock Up Feb 1/11 -Fixing Mar 31+Apr 14 -PCI cancelled Re: Kate & Dean - Urbanedge Build - Latest PICS!!! PCI Thurs 69Mar 28, 2011 2:32 pm I don't know what the "standard issue” is regarding the tops of architraves being painted is, I am pretty sure ours are, (I’ll have to go home and check tonight) but I would have thought it would get done. I mean seriously, how much extra work and paint would it really take to paint them, answer, in the grand scheme of things, nothing. Good luck ripping the tape off, I hope that the area that peeled is just an isolated incident, it is going to be a real mess if it is wide spread. Let me know how you go. If you like I can PM you my mobile, that way you can call me if you need advice Current status: Busy making the house our home Built PD Francis 29 on our 576m2 block at Reflections in Tarneit Reflections Estate Thread Our Build Thread Re: Kate & Dean - Urbanedge Build - Latest PICS!!! PCI Thurs 71Mar 28, 2011 7:28 pm Hey wizard I followed your advice and took some tape and guess what off came the paint. It didn't with all pieces of tape but it happened with a number of them. I've attached some pics for you see. Last time I spoke to SS he told me if it's disputed on pci and we prove a **** job which we have then a deluxe rep will come and assess the house and it's up to him if we get the house repainted. Everything else is so minor it's just the paint job. Let me know what you think. Mobile number would be great too. Thanks. These pics are of paint on the wall. PCI Thurs 72Mar 28, 2011 8:00 pm Will PM you my number, but the fact that the paint is peeling everywhere shows a BIG error somewhere. I would ring Dulux and put in a complaint about what is happening, don’t wait for you CS to do it, they will be a pain to deal with and you will have to fight, but just keep annoying them until they come out and fix it. In fact, I would ring the closest Dulux paint shop to your house and ask for the reps mobile number, tell them you’re a painter who wants to open an account if you have to. Once you have their number, call them every day, even twice a day until it is fixed. I actually think it is a painter (not product) problem, I don’t think the painter has used an undercoat, but leave that to Dulux to figure out and then fix Current status: Busy making the house our home Built PD Francis 29 on our 576m2 block at Reflections in Tarneit Reflections Estate Thread Our Build Thread Kate & Dean - Urbanedge Build - Latest PICS!!! PCI Thurs 74Apr 01, 2011 9:22 am So very unhappy with yesterdays proceedings. We were booked in two weeks ago to have our PCI yesterday and then we get there and our SS arrives and says the house isn't 100% ready and I say ok so what is the process for PCI how does it work and he says PCI isn't today it's just a walk through. Hang on a second we got a letter saying PCI is today. Oh that's right no one called you yesterday (Wednesday) to tell you that it has been cancelled!! Instantly blood pressure hits the roof. We were told that it was cancelled becasue our SS has his meeting days on Wednesday and is unable to come and check the house prior to PCI. So in our very strongly worded email yesterday we reminded them of the fact that UE booked the PCI date not us, and it was us who had to arrange time off work for a day that was a complete waste of time and which now we will need to request more time off for the next PCI....grrrr so frustrating!!! And then we are informed that the painters have said they are finished. Words cannot even describe how awful and disgracful the paint job is. I will let the pictures do the talking. There is so many issues with the paint work that our corrections list is 5 pages long and that is not including all paint issues as it got beyond such a joke that we stopped documenting. We think we have enough to plead our case that those painters never come back and we get the whole house painted again. Also frustrating that we had a walk through 3+ weeks ago with our SS and placed correction tape throughout the house, to find that none of the issues have been fixed but instead the painters half hearted fix their mistakes and then remove all the tape from the house. So in 3+ weeks all that has been done is carpet gone in, shelving in wardrobe and linen (one of these is incorrect), some door handles put on which are now covered in paint, our trough with no plumbing and some corking which the guy retuned yesterday to finish. Most of the skirting joins aren't flush, most of the doors have chips in them which have been painted over, the cracks that we pointed out 3+ weeks ago have been painted over and the painters say they had only painted two coats on the house at the start of last week and that they still need to do a third coat....hmmm it's lucky if it has two coats!!! Surely cobwebs don't come back that fast considering they finished on Tuesday!!! Will load pics shortly! Just got an email that the construction manager will attending our house next week to assess the damage! viewtopic.php?f=31&t=40976 Aug 26/10 -Land settle Oct 1-Signed UE Nov 4 -Site Cut 22 -Slab 26 -Frame Dec 17 -Lock Up Feb 1/11 -Fixing Mar 31+Apr 14 -PCI cancelled Re: Kate & Dean - Urbanedge Build - SO ANGRY no PCI!! 75Apr 01, 2011 9:32 am Sorry to hear about the f#$k around, sounds very unprofessional. UE's houses are impressive (in their advertising) and are not cheap homes. I certainly would expect more from them. We have a catalogue here and often drool over their houses.
