Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 06, 2010 3:32 pm We have started our journey on building our Eden Brae Hayman 28 at Waterford County. Over the last month the land was registered and our plans have just recently been submitted to council. Hopefully all goes smoothly and we will start sometime late this year otherwise it will be after the holidays in 2011. The journey so far has been as expected and all has gone fairly smoothly. We are very much looking forward to getting in our house although it does seem like such a long way off. I'm sure there will be plenty more decisions to make over the next 6 months or so. We have been checking out this site for a while now and have found it to be a great place to get ideas and to share experiences. Is anyone else out there building at Waterford County? Re: Our Eden Brae Hayman 28 2Nov 07, 2010 8:38 am Welcome and congratulations on your upcoming build. Rgds Leonard. Re: Our Eden Brae Hayman 28 3Nov 07, 2010 2:45 pm Hi Ako, we are building in Waterford County Stage C. We are building with McDonald Jones Homes and just signed up with them. Do you have any information regarding the fibre optic cabling as we haven't and can't find any information regarding it. I called Opticomm who emailed me the info, but I pretty sure the info I have looks to be the same as on their website. You can visit http://www.opticomm.net.au/html/services.htm and download the "info pack for residents" to get the info. I think there are a couple of packages available but I haven't looked into that part of it too much, you will need to contact them for this. You will have to let McDonald Jones know when you do your electrical appointment as they have to lay conduit from the street to the house as per Opticomms specifications. I'm just waiting on Opticomm to get back to me about a quote to get it all installed. Our house will be more that 10m from the street so it looks like I'm up for a bit extra. I'm still trying to get my head around the "fibre" internet plans, but there's plenty of time to research this. How far off is your section from registration? Cheers Re: Our Eden Brae Hayman 28 6Nov 08, 2010 10:45 am Re: Our Eden Brae Hayman 28 7Nov 09, 2010 10:00 am Hi Ako, thats a good size block, thanks for the info. Our block gets registered hopefully at the end of this month. ___________________ Initial deposit - 31 Oct 11 Signed Contract - Apr 11 Released to Construction - 03 Jun 11 Site Start - 05 Jul 11 (Advised) Re: Our Eden Brae Hayman 28 - approved by council :) 8Nov 18, 2010 7:22 pm Its official, the plans have been approved. In less than 3 weeks seems pretty speedy. more to come.... Re: Our Eden Brae Hayman 28 9Dec 08, 2010 3:42 pm thats great Ako. Have you heard when they are starting to build?. We've received a letter in the mail that our land wont be registered until next year now. Bit frustrating. Hopefully it will be in January fingers crossed. ___________________ Initial deposit - 31 Oct 11 Signed Contract - Apr 11 Released to Construction - 03 Jun 11 Site Start - 05 Jul 11 (Advised) Re: Our Eden Brae Hayman 28 10Dec 08, 2010 7:16 pm Hey Castlevania, As of today we've finished making alterations and have signed off. We should have the DA next week and are scheduled to start before end of month, but yet to clarify what start is. I'm thinking pegs, maybe a porta loo, then all systems go next year. We'll see I guess. Shame about the delay in your registration. It seems to take forever when you're waiting. When are you starting you're thread? Re: Our Eden Brae Hayman 28 11Jan 01, 2011 12:49 pm Howdy Neighbours, We've (my partner & i) bought in the hills stage B (close to metricons homes) i found this forum to be insiteful so i decided to join in as well! We have also received a letter to say practicle completion of stage b would be mid december and registration of land would be mid january We have decided to build Eden Brae's Saville 27 design. We are still at the stage of comparing prices/bartering for a better deal. In driving past lots of homes have started cutting into their blocks preparing for their slabs to be poured - how exciting! Just thought i would drop a line and say hi to others building here. Re: Our Eden Brae Hayman 28 12Jan 14, 2011 10:35 pm Hi there! Great choice in house, I think one of the new EB displays at Waterford will be a Saville 27 (not sure which if the many versions). Good luck on the batering! I think we will be starting construction soon, you should be able to see it happening as I believe lots of people are building Metricon's. Re: Our Eden Brae Hayman 28 13Mar 28, 2011 8:14 pm Hi Neighbours!!! We are all but ready to start building, having paid the construction deposit today. We're in Stage A, building a 35 square, two storey Clarendon home - The Tennyson. I went for a drive today and it's amazing to see how many homes are already going up. I love watching everyone's decisions come together. I can't wait till it's ours. http://tennyson-thedream.blogspot.com Re: Our Eden Brae Hayman 28 15Apr 15, 2011 7:44 pm Hi Burlesque, Congrats on the build. Looks like a great house, can't wait watch all the progress. The place is coming alive. Re: Our Eden Brae Hayman 28 16Apr 21, 2011 7:27 am Thanks Ako. How is your place going? Got any photos? We were slabbed this week...it looks so small without the walls to define it. http://tennyson-thedream.blogspot.com Our Eden Brae Hayman 28 17Oct 02, 2011 7:40 pm Hey all! We are seriously considering building at waterford county! How did you go buying your land? Were you able to negotiate them down!? How has the recycled water worked? Has it reduced bills etc or is it about the same! Many thanks! Ben Re: Our Eden Brae Hayman 28 18Oct 20, 2011 3:55 pm Hey Ben, I think the recycled water was only just turned on in the last month or so. I don't think we've had a bill yet so I can't comment on the prospective savings. If you're really interested it might be worth checking with Hunter Water if they can tell you what the comparison price between the regular and recycled is? Without going into specifics we were able to negotiate what we think was a fair price for our land. PM me if you have any other questions. Hope it all goes well for you! Eden Brae were really good too, we love our house. Cheers I built with EB back on 2009.
