Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 05, 2010 2:42 pm Hey all, Just joined the forum and wanted to say hi and we are building the Glenaire from Fairhaven Homes. Currently we are on the cusp of getting our block cut ready for slab so fingers crossed that will happen next week! Eager to hear from anyone else dealing with Fairhaven, experiences and what not. No doubt will have many questions in the coming months as our build progresses. Re: Building Fairhaven Homes Glenaire 2Nov 15, 2010 6:11 pm hi and welcome, do you have any pics of your site, or of your plan...we all love plans!!! congrats and good luck with everything Re: Building Fairhaven Homes Glenaire 3Nov 15, 2010 9:39 pm Thanks Kiwi! We just got our site cut today (hooray! ) so will post some pics shortly. Hopefully the slab is not far off. On that topic, just putting a question out there to anyone, how long does it take on average for the slab to go down after a site cut? Re: Building Fairhaven Homes Glenaire 5Nov 15, 2010 10:06 pm Nice. Thanks for the reply Barwon374. It is cool to see something finally happening on our land. Re: Building Fairhaven Homes Glenaire 6Dec 04, 2010 6:03 am Hi! We are also building the glenaire and are probably about a month ahead. We have a slab, frame and tiles. You will be amazed how quickly a slab turns into a house!! What are your colour choices? Did you modify the plans at all? We just took off the theater room at the back (for the sake of a little bit more back yard). Where are u building? Good luck with everything! All the best with your build ~ are you doing the standard Glenaire like the display? Or have you gone for one of the options they have available now? There seem to be quite a number of different formats for this house now (someone has been busy!). Love to see pics of your progress ~ your colours ~ and how your build goes. KJ_and_AJ Hi! We pretty much built off the plan (those new options were not available when we chose) but we extended the garage (width and depth) and we also extended the front by 2m or so. We wanted a bit more room in the study. Colour scheme is essentially earthy tones, browns, creams and some greens. We have been a bit happier with the progress of late as we should have the slab down this week. Communication is still proving to be a bit of an issue but I am hoping that will improve with our SS. **Really hoping! When are your bricks due to begin KJ and AJ? I'm wondering what else can be complete on ours before the xmas/new year wind down. The cut slab process has dragged a bit for us. Still, fingers crossed! Re: Building Fairhaven Homes Glenaire 9Dec 06, 2010 4:44 pm Hi CroStriker, WE have gone for fairly similar tones. Our bricks SHOULD be delivered in about 1 weeks time ("Pisachio"). I actually stopped by the display home Sunday (checking out their blinds & shutters looking for ideas!) and Rod said that because of the weather they are all a little bit behind. Fingers crossed for some blue sky!!! We got a little extra room added to the garage (my husband is estatic!), but are REALLY kicking ourselves we didn't add a bit onto the study too Vanilla Tree! I thought you were waaaaay ahead of us! What stage are you at? My husband has heaps of pics of the build on his phone (we work really close to the site so have stopped by most nights), but just need to figure out how to get them on here!
