Building with H3nley. I've searched through the previous posts but still can't figure it out. Is it in the following order? 1. Final Inspection 2. Handover (is this also known as Home presntation?) 3. Settlement (I pay the final invoice. Am I handed the keys then?) Or with H3nley, the Final Inspection a part of Handover? Many Thanks Re: Handover, Homepresentation, Final Inspection,Settlement etc 2Nov 26, 2007 5:06 pm Touchincloth,
I've been looking into this and this is my understanding: 1) At the final progress payment (after the final inspection and at handover/settlement) you are handed the keys. 2) Even though you have the keys, you cannot occupy the premises until you get an Occupancy Certificate from the Council (or PCA?). For the HIA contract the owner needs to get the Occupancy Certificate. For Department of Fair Trading contract (in NSW) the builder is responsible for getting the Occupancy Certificate. Not sure what the situation is with MBA contracts. Chapter 12 covers Settlement.
