Browse Forums Building A New House Re: How often do you visit your site? 163Jul 24, 2011 6:15 pm My husband likes stopping there on the way home after work, now that building has started it is very exciting, I go once or twice a week Re: How often do you visit your site? 164Aug 02, 2011 2:16 pm On the weekends only, however, I'd go much more often if I lived closer. It's amazing how fast a empty piece of land can go from nothing to slab to frame etc. Within a month you pretty much get all of that. Re: How often do you visit your site? 165Aug 17, 2011 5:53 pm If your house is being build near your current house then every day visit is must. In general everyday visit means the work is going on as it is scheduled and you can look at the progress each day. Re: How often do you visit your site? 166Aug 26, 2011 9:43 pm On the days I don't work 2 or 3 times a day. The days I work every night on the way home. We are living about a min. away by car. I think I have a problem. Just love looking at my new place. Re: How often do you visit your site? 167Sep 09, 2011 9:07 pm Numerous times a day we are building on a couple of acres & living on site in a little house right next to our new one. I watch what's going on through my kitchen window while I do the dishes. It's getting a bit frustrating now though as all the work is happening internally so I can't see from the outside! I do usually wander inside once a day when a tradie is there but I always ask if mind first, haven't had anyone say no yet & then as soon as I see their vehicle take off at the end of the day I'm straight over there having another look It's great though, we see the SS several times a week & he is always happy to chat so we are well aware of what's going on & what to expect next. LOL well i do live in Sydney and am building in Melbourne! I am lucky enough to have family go every weekend to check and my dad has been a builder for 30 odd years so he meets with the SS and go over all things in details and chats about the management, progress and subbies then calls me to ok the payments Living in Sydney - Building in Melbourne My Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=50518 Re: How often do you visit your site? 169Sep 16, 2011 12:59 pm twice a week...... now that the construction has started...... get really anxious by mid week..... Re: How often do you visit your site? 171Sep 20, 2011 2:28 pm Pretty much every fortnight. Land titles aren't ready until Feb/Mar 2012.... I cant help it, but every time I go and from reading in here, it just confirms its going to be about 6 months late with the titles. Avonlee Estate, Henley Brook WA. Re: How often do you visit your site? 172Sep 20, 2011 6:06 pm I go visit every Monday Before construction we would visit like once every couple of months.. Went to visit about 4 weeks ago and was surprised that our slab had gone down! Since then it is every Monday during lunch as it is close to the office. I don't think there is really any need to go more than that to be honest!! I know people who visit their site everyday and got so disapopinted because they couldn't always see changes or they weren't big changes or anything. Like when the slab was curing they got so angry at the builder... They went 10 days (during the week - 2 weeks) and slab was still curing and they were angry.. I made two visits over two weeks and it was like no big deal - mentality thing Plus its nice to go one week and see a slab.. Then go the next and see the bricks etc rather than keeping such a tight eye on it that you know exactly what time on what date how many bricks in what shade of colour were delivered to the exact coordinates on your site... Re: How often do you visit your site? 175Sep 29, 2011 2:44 pm We drive past once a week/fn and we are still waiting on council but check out the other houses in our street. Once we start building i will be there every day, its only a few blocks from where we live now and is only a block away from our normal drive to and from school. I strongly recommend to anyone who is building to visit as often as possible. You don't have to hang around too long or annoy tradies but it is important to keep an eye on what is happening and making sure everything is as it should be. Problems are generally solved easier if dealt with early on. Your family home is a very important asset both financially and emotionally. Keep a close eye on it!!! I work from home 65% of the time, and our build is 11mins from our house, although I can go during the day, I ALWAYS wait till 4pm. Sometimes the tradies are there, mostly they are not. I do this EVERYDAY. Picking up little things as I go. My SS rings me every friday, and asks me for my observations, and we communicate clearly any concerns. Its working fantastically well. Re: How often do you visit your site? 179Oct 07, 2011 10:08 pm Since the site works started 2 weeks ago, I have been going past 1-3 times a day for a driveby - it's not far from where we are currently living plus it's close to a playground - so I bribe the kids in taking them to the park so mummy can check out the build!
