Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our build with Mirvac in Glenfield 21Dec 20, 2010 7:26 pm Heya Lex, Great story and I think it is amazing how everyone has a different story about their journey on H1. We are fortunate(or unfortunate) depending on which side of the fence that you lean in that we are building in a planned estate - so ever block will pretty much cover all house designs possible (within the builders spec homes). Anyway would be interested if you have a thread or a blog to take a look at what you guys ended up with. I did a search on your posts but didn't seem to see anything. Our scaffolding is down which is fantastic news. In addition he bricks for the 2nd floor have been cleaned.. and our Austral One Latte bricks look fantastic, as we were worried before the clean that they looked ginger (now that they are cleaned the real coffee has come out of them) My electricians will be in sometime this week and then gyprocl so want to know if anyone might be able to help me approximate how much time I have got left... I'm kind of hoping end 2.5 months (maybe late April) but that is probably optimistic.. Carpet, kitchen, front landsacaping... We also managed to find a contractor to do the retaining wall who was local so will let you all know how that goes. We are concerned that we don't blow up our budget by going for the optional upgrades that are available. Also, if you don't mind where did you get your retaining wall built from? we have taken a corner lot and have been advised to build a retaining wall. We have a unit in the plaze and whilst beautiful with awesome views was a little small for a family! Anyway in terms of the extras yes we did go extra. The big ticket upgrade were our tiles. We spent about an extra 20k for our tiles. Kind of reluctant beforehand but after living here for 3 months and even comparing it to the display home tiles - very pleased that we did........ Where are you building and what did you build? In terms of retaining wall - just talk to one of the sales guys and ask for a landscapers #.... I can PM the details of one of the guys who can build them for you. Bear in mind that they are quite expensive.... Expect to pay > $200 p/sqm of retaining wall (so 1m x 15m = at least 3k) In terms of other upgrades i'll list them out for you now.. hope this helps.. would have been good if i had an idea prior EXTERNAL/STRUCTURAL VARIATIONS Provide a 6000mm (W) x 4460mm (D) integrated slab to the dwelling adjacent to Rumpus and to the rear of Dining/Family.
