Came to post my updates, clicked on your thread and love your house! Clean lines and really modern. Hope ours can look anywhere near half that good! I reckon you could find yourself at least a hundred new "besties" on here (especially us "mexicans")! Cheers, Mike Re: Cairns Build - Better Homes Queensland - 1st builders cl 187Sep 30, 2011 11:29 pm When was it that you said I could move in ????? WOW it really is an amazing house I've been watching your thread for a long time and its great to see how its finished even if I am a little envious. It truly is gorgeous you must be so so happy with how its turned out Bet your happy to recommend your builder And that Pool looks so inviting (and thats from someone that doesnt like pools)Although I have one at my back door at the moment due to excess rain puddles are around 2 inches deep (cant wait to get to Cairns on our Holiday and the warm weather) Your house almost looks too nice to live in Ok I better go and think about maybe start building an ark incase this rain decides not to stop Cheers Janet Re: Cairns Build - Better Homes Queensland - 1st builders cl 188Oct 01, 2011 7:44 am Thanks everyone!! I remember posting in this forum back in May 2010 asking for ideas on how to design the house, I think it's come up nicely! Does anyone have any ideas for plants for our gardens on either side of the walkway? One landscaper suggested bromeliads on the pool side and dwarf palms on the rock wall side. http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i80/danielt25/house%202011/18BadineHR33_resize.jpg Our "Better Homes Queensland" Cairns Build viewtopic.php?f=31&t=40451 Current stage - 1st builder's clean done. Well done. love, love, love the outdoor room. No idea of plants, sorry. My brain is still processing how beautiful your home is....and imagining my 6 kids in all that white RF Build: viewtopic.php?f=38&t=34534 Flooring: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=39733 Chat: viewtopic.php?f=36&t=53303 Re: Cairns Build - Better Homes Queensland - 1st builders cl 190Oct 01, 2011 8:09 am Amazing home - and yes, you can add me to the list of new tenants!!!! Plants that work well are very different down here in cold old Victoria but the landscapers idea sounds lovely to me. I would love to have a truly tropical garden.. alot of what will grow well for you wouldn't last one winter down south. I love palms and bromeliads can look spectacular if they are happy and healthy. Re: Cairns Build - Better Homes Queensland - 1st builders cl 191Oct 01, 2011 10:03 am I like the idea of the bromeliads (but beaware of all the chemicals that you may be putting in your pool may also end on the some of the plants so they need to pretty hardy) and dwarf palms but I would also throw in a few smaller ferns to soften off the palms as the rocks are beautiful but hard so a few softer ferns would soften the look. You dont want to hid those rocks tho as they are such a feature:D But it depends on the look you want ??? I personally love the tropical look but live down in the very bottom of Victoria so its way way too cold to even consider it. Have a look through some magazines and see what it is exactly that YOU like no point doing what someone else likes it's your house. Re: Cairns Build - Better Homes Queensland - 1st builders cl 192Oct 01, 2011 12:13 pm One thing with palms, they make mess so you will always be picking up fronds and seeds etc RF Build: viewtopic.php?f=38&t=34534 Flooring: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=39733 Chat: viewtopic.php?f=36&t=53303 Re: Cairns Build - Better Homes Queensland - 1st builders cl 194Oct 04, 2011 9:28 am OMG - GORGEOUS PICS .... Re: Cairns Build - Better Homes Queensland - 1st builders cl 195Oct 04, 2011 1:42 pm your pics are amazing.....looks like your house is from a magazine!! Re: Cairns Build - Better Homes Queensland - 1st builders cl 196Oct 06, 2011 12:57 pm Yes it's amazing how a professional photographer can make a house look good. This photographer does real estate photos only so she should be good. We were fortunate our builder wanted some professional photos taken, otherwise we would have been left with my amateur attempts! Re: Cairns Build - Better Homes Queensland - 1st builders cl 197Oct 07, 2011 8:04 am Don't be modest now, regardless of photography, you have a very special home. I promise I won't stalk the streets of Cairns trying to find it Although I cannot vouch for Kiwi or dexterredcat when they visit in a week or so RF Build: viewtopic.php?f=38&t=34534 Flooring: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=39733 Chat: viewtopic.php?f=36&t=53303 Re: Cairns Build - Better Homes Queensland - 1st builders cl 198Oct 07, 2011 11:02 am I too am building with BHQ - the work started on the 20th with the site scrape and then went onto slab pour and external walls. Your house looks marvellous and I wish you enjoy it for many many years. Suburbia is where the developer bulldozes out the trees, then names the streets after them.
