Re: Our SPH build - Ellenbrook - its all ours now! 103Mar 01, 2011 11:35 pm I f%#cken HATE painting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have lots of paint on me!!!! I am soooooooo over it! And we have only sealed 2 bedrooms! Looooong way to go. But thing is we dont have tenants set to move in, so we might be able to delay things a week if need be. Last nights power black out saw us go bunk at the inlaws in the lounge room for some air con comfort!!! So a little sleep deprived too. Re: Our SPH build - Ellenbrook - its all ours now! 104Mar 02, 2011 12:44 pm hehehe - we only managed to seal the 3 minor bedrooms, the bathroom, the powder room, WIL and the hallways... had to stop as we need to move our stuff in the garage before we can continue. I'm back at work today and when I went to the bathroom this morning I noticed that I still had some paint in my hair and some faint drops on my skin... I don't mind painting - I hate having to move things around to be able to do it... too much hassle as our garage door was installed only yesterday so we store everything in the house... good luck and let's hope that the weather cools down for both our sakes... I'm sleep deprived as well... no AC at the house.. need more money from the bank Preliminary agreement 23/11 Contract 22/03 Prestart 06/04 - finalised on 30/04 Unconditional approval 10/05 Demolition 05/07 Slab 26/08 Brickwork 13/09-06/10 Roof frame started 07/10 viewtopic.php?f=31&t=32292 Re: Our SPH build - Ellenbrook - its all ours now! 105Mar 02, 2011 12:58 pm I love all this happy banter about finally moving in . Glad now I had so much time ( about five weeks ) . Dont get me wrong this still wasnt enough but paint, floor , driveway , new fridge , dishwasher , aircon , new bed all before made the move in sections over a week whilst on holidays for the month. Having said that my Aircon packed it in on Friday and the earliest a techy can come have a look is the 10th Not to mention I am to do it all again. Well 29 so not much cooler but alot better than what it has been!! So hopefully, it wont be so bad painting on those days.. Its definitely the part Im not looking forward to Dragonfly... How did the landscaping meeting go on tuesday?? We have ours next tuesday. Did it go for long?? DH has to come from work but will probably have to go back afterwards so was just curious... We have a few ideas of what we want so hopefully we can sort it out there and then.. Sent off our paperwork yesterday for Keystart so hopefully they wont take forever now to get their stuff done and the final payment ready.. I guess the longer they take the further away our mortgage is more time to save or should i say spend!! Re: Our SPH build - Ellenbrook - its all ours now! 108Mar 03, 2011 11:53 am I want to curl up and die. I hurt. I need a bath of turps. I need a healthy meal. Seriously pay somebody to paint. It sucks big time. Especially for us weak little girls. Dh is a pro with the roller. We wiped down the walls before painting, lots of dust. Sealing nearly complete - DH will finish it this afternoon and then start patching. If we agree on a colour we will be starting 1st coat tomorrow. DH wants to paint the theatre ceiling grey. We have carpet going in next Thurs so need those rooms complete. Landscaping meeting wasnt too long maybe 30 mins? He is going to draw up something and then send it back to us for approval. We have to have a stupid street tree - I think it may have to accidentally die in a couple of months. We are going to upgrade to the buffalo lawn although he didnt give an idea of cost. You can get a few good things, dont know why some people have such sh1t looking yards. Our back retic happening Monday. Aircon installed, waiting on their plumber to hook up the water so its cool. Downlights in living area happening Sat. Westinghouse been out to do new oven panel and stove knobs. Laundry cabinet fixed was a PCI issue. Have found our front door handle wobbles, have informed maintenance. Its coming together and the hard work will soon be over. I need to make an appointment with hairdresser and my hands need some TLC. Re: Our SPH build - Ellenbrook - its all ours now! 109Mar 03, 2011 12:27 pm dragonflychic I want to curl up and die. I hurt. Re: Our SPH build - Ellenbrook - its all ours now! 111Mar 07, 2011 8:40 pm hey dragonflychick - are you still alive? we just finished sealing... this house is sooooooo big and with 3 WIP/WIL, 2 WIR, 2 inbuilts it does take time to get throught the small spaces.... I'm high on fumes we can start tomorrow on the dents and sanding... hopefully in the weekend we can start painting the colour... have you decided on the colours? We worked till 1am Sat night/Sun morning. Most nights till 8-9. The good thing is now we have finished all bedrooms, ensuite and theatre. Retic out the back is done, and we are getting lawn tomorrow! We got some good help yesterday, only my mum had helped for a day with the sealer before then, funny how people 'offer' to help but when you ring them they dont answer. But yes our colours we came to an agreement finally. Dont ask what colours though! The theatre has 2 dark greys. DH mixed the original colour with a sample pot of black as he decided he wanted darker after doing the first coat, it looks fine. Then the rest of the house is a light grey, but its a grey that looks ok with the browns. Had a bit of a disaster, we had a sample pot and we decided yep that'll do, I go to shop and get 50L of it $600, it was a standard colour, start painting and DH says this is nothing like the sample so he goes and paints next to the sample, it was NOTHING like it! I took it all back to the shop with the sample and it was clear as day, so he colour matched the whole lot to the sample pot. It is close to being Solvers 50% Kitty Grey. Our plastering is sh1t, but we arent going to fix any more of it now. And also Dh taped a door frame, the enamel paint peeled off a bit!!! Mustnt of been prepared properly. Downlights are in and alfresco fan. Would love to get rid of the crappy lights inside but no time to shop or put them in. My blinds are ready to collect, but doesnt look like we'll have time for them either, so will probably have the dogs looking in at us Monday morning. PS Bags once you fill the dents you need to seal them over. And we're using Solver paint throughout except for the theatre we used Dulux, the Dulux had a much better coverage/thicker. Re: Our SPH build - Ellenbrook - its all ours now! 113Mar 08, 2011 12:57 pm Well, you are busy Cristy Can't wait to see your colors when they are done - especially theater. Did you end up getting grey ceiling? We went to buy the desk on Sunday but the stupid shops were closed so I dragged DH to City West. No desk for him but I found the deep fryer I was looking for everywhere for the last 3 months and some gold vases DH said he won't fall for the "buy the desk" trick again contract 10/11 prestart 04/10 slab 06/10 bricks 07/10 roof 09/10 plaster 10/10 Ceiling 10/10 LOCKUP 10/10 tiling wet areas 11/10 garage floor 11/10 PCI 12.01.11 handover 11.02.11 https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=39361&hilit=malvern+springs We are in !!! Re: Our SPH build - Ellenbrook - its all ours now! 115Mar 08, 2011 1:09 pm Too too busy. I'm happy to be at work sitting on my bum. Both houses are ferally dirty. I've done no packing, havent even gotten boxes. No he didnt paint the ceiling. we have the one wall behind the tv thats quite dark and the rest is medium shade of grey that doesnt look too stupid with the white ceiling. Once the black carpet and black blinds go it I'm sure it'll all seem dark enough for him. Its his dungeon. It has no furniture though. We got the low sheen, but I wanted the medium sheen, but our walls are not good at all. Yeah we noticed the patches coming through after the first coat and ran around with what was left of the sealer! If I am to be completely honest I'm a little relieved to hear that there are other people out there who are right in the middle of this painting nonsense! I was beginning to feel quite 'alone'. I have had enough of the whole painting experience and part of me wishes we paid someone to get it done...Here I am whinging and I'm not the one doing it!! LOL! (plus we're not yet living in our place so I know I shouldn't be complaining) My husband started the paint on our place about TEN weeks ago and still hasn't finished! He has basically been working on it on weekends and for a few hours in the evening and it is taking FOREVER! There was a lot of work he did patching up the sub-standard flushing done by the gyprockers and patching and sanding the nail holes on the architraves/ skirting boards! Spraying, sanding, patching, filling! He has finally added some colour to the walls and it finally feels like he's getting somewhere! Poor guy- I know he's not going to want to see a paint brush or roller for a very long after all this is finished! Anyway- I just wanted to let you know I can relate!!!! It won't be long and we'll be enjoying our new homes! Re: Our SPH build - Ellenbrook - its all ours now! 120Mar 09, 2011 5:27 pm I'm wishing we'd paid for a painter ourselves.
