The rates we have been paying are cheap because it was only on vacant land. Come July when they send out rates for the new financial year we'll all be paying full amount of about $1400. I dont think other shires make you pay upfront, they are just extra stingy and dont give away anything. But when we moved into old house there was a hole in bin and they replaced it free, same shire but 5yrs ago. Telstra Velocity is crap. We've had so many problems. Have had to ring for help so many times. First no dial tone on phone, no internet going to modem, slow speeds. And nearly everytime they have 'reset it' from their end and it works again, so frustrating. Re: Our SPH build - moved in. 147Apr 07, 2011 11:37 am devospad That was me and yeah apparently we do... Im wondering though if we buy them from stratco or bunnings as they are only $90 thru them, we would need to just pay an establishment fee thru the council??? Think I might call them tomorrow to find out... I think its ridiculous that we have to pay that much when every other council u get them for free!!! Maybe City of Swan is the council with the most problems so we have to pay for it!! grrrrrrr... damn Midland!! I just called the number on the COS website..spoke to 'Mr Arrogant' and he said that every council you live in has similar bin charges...MY A*SS they do! $277 for the actual bin, plus $55 fo each bin...I asked if I could do what you said and buy one from bunnings etc but apparently they will not empty them - couldn't give me an answer as to why only that unless it has COS logo on it, it won't be emptied. Told me to go onto his website again and look at their budget report which states everything that my rates are paying and that we get a good deal. Total rip off. Can't believe it! It gets added onto your rates at the end of the year, dont think its an upfront fee. dragonflychic Yes as soon as you get keys ring them as it will take upto a week to get the bins delivered. I hate the initial set up of the internet and phone and everything. What happens with the $1500 rebate? We will be swapping our mobiles over to Telstra and trying to get a package including home phone, internet and both mobiles, maybe foxtel if they do it? What type of plan are you on? I thought they'd just add it to rates tally, but no just a normal bill with 4 or so weeks to pay it. We had an over flowing bin for the first few weeks so we've made good use of it. Maybe I'm just cursed with Telstra. But the help centre is helpful. You have to pay the connection fee $299 and then they'll put the credit to your phone bill. I got whatever phoneline I had to have and the 50gb ultimate net (the fastest one). And only a 12month contract. You only get a $10 discount on mobiles if you bundle. We just resigned with Vodafone and yep its crap, but I keep hearing they getting a new tower out there. Re: Our SPH build - moved in. 150Apr 23, 2011 11:56 am What did you invite my parents over??! Pick the sh1t out of everything. I like it so dont care. We get lawn on Wednesday! And that'll be the front complete, gardens are in. It took 3 weeks from when he came out to get sent a design (emailed), I changed a couple of plants (had too many kangaroo paws) and then they started within the week. Looking nice. We changed the lights in the alfresco - having housewarming next weekend so 'had' to get rid of the crap ones. Havent got garden shed yet and half garage still full of crap. We had our appointment with them approx 2 weeks ago and he is going to send a design through, pretty excited to see what he comes up with. He seemed kind of pushy and we didnt have a huge chance to tell him exactly what we wanted, interested to see what he comes up with. Did you design it yourselves or did they come up with it? How long from your appointment til it was finished? Bet it feels good not to feel like your living in the beach with all the sand in your house!
