Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 27, 2010 7:56 pm I am hoping some one will enlighten me on Facades. I am will be building my first home. There are so many things to understand and decide. Besides a house design, one has to decide on a facade design too. What is confusing for me is what is included in a facade? Quite often, the sales guy will say 'no that is not included in the facade design, it will be extra'. So what I see in the brochures of the different facade is not what I will get, so what exactly am I paying for in the different facades???? I thought what I see is what I get and pay for in the different facades. Obviously that is not the case. Do you know of any links that will explain and list out what is included in facades? Would greatly appreciate any help on this. Re: What is included in a Facade Design 2Oct 27, 2010 8:48 pm Different builders each offer different things! But usually u have to pay for the render, eaves, upgrade in bricks, upgrade in mortar. Most facade designs u pay for are quite standard, the ones u see in the brochure are fully upgraded! Mel Re: What is included in a Facade Design 3Nov 01, 2010 7:11 pm Thanks mel_mox for your input. It seems so odd that for the extra price for a different facade than the standard a lot of things are not included in it (as displayed on the brochures). There are so many extra charges on top of that. Re: What is included in a Facade Design 4Nov 01, 2010 9:36 pm mel_mox is right - every builder is different. For instance - when we were choosing ours - we were shown 9 different facade options - some of them were no cost, some were extra cost and included some render or different windows or cedar planking - depending on the level of feature depended on how expensive it would go. And some builders include render in their facades, some don't. We looked at another builder where the only facade option that we liked was going to cost us $16k to upgrade!!! Needless to say we walked away then and there from that particular builder!
