Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 25, 2010 12:25 am Hello! I have not found many building this home so far, from my google searching anyway. We have just completed pre-start for the house, but are still waiting on the lovely Stockland to title our block so work can begin. Sucks that they sell the blocks so far out (we signed up in May). Here is our modified display elevation, which has been widened to accommodate moving the study to the front and a games room to the main living area. The study window has since been changed to an awning window to match the other ones. You'll learn that we like pics and details around here! Good luck, and welcome. my new build thread- Ben Trager https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=89826 my switch build thread (2011) https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=36569 Re: Ventura Leeuwin build - Newhaven 3Oct 25, 2010 10:33 am The external colours were tough to choose. In the end we went with: Roof: colorbond woodland grey Gutter: colorbond woodland grey Flashing/verandah poles: colorbond surfmist Cladding: colorbond surfmist Render: Tabmans Foxdale Brick: Brikmakers Tivoli Aaron Re: Ventura Leeuwin build - Newhaven 4Oct 25, 2010 12:10 pm The final interior specification is going to depend on the $ for the stuff we wanted quoted from pre-start. But basically we tried to get it close to the display spec. The design process so far has been ok, the odd mistake (forgetting to cost listed additions) has been admitted and corrected at Ventura's cost. The plan below is slightly out of date, as this one was missing the corner window in the ensuite, an the laundry is also being changed to a single glass door and a window instead of the slider, to make the bench come right up to the wall so there isnt a silly 10cm wasted space next to the door. Not a bad thing though with the time it has taken me with V, i think it wont hold you up too much. Not a bad thing though with the time it has taken me with V, i think it wont hold you up too much. They seem a bit slow in the beginning You are building the prestige - we nearly went with that one. In the end we couldn't put an elevation on it we liked, thus the Leeuwin (which does have an awesome display elevation). On the plus side, the extra delay means the block funds continue to gain interest for 2 more months, more money for finishing off the house once completed! Aaron Re: Ventura Leeuwin build - Newhaven 8Oct 25, 2010 11:14 pm Kitchen selections - we have specified the display kitchen, along with our vspec xtras essastone benchtops. The benchtop chosen was "Sorbet", along with the display type Polytec "Classic white" gloss laminate. The jury is still out on the upgrade to cast trivets on the blanco cooktop, as well as the glass splashback, until costs come back from our prestart. It was tough to find all of the tiles in one place, it turned out that all the bathroom tiles we liked were at the tile place with limited selection in larger decorative tiles. Thats been a plus for us aswell. We also changed our elevation from the prestige display. It didnt have the style we were looking for. Most of the prices of things seem reasonable, except for soakwells which had a provisional sum of $5000. Is it me or is this alot for soakwells? Aaron Re: Ventura Leeuwin build - Newhaven 11Oct 26, 2010 11:07 pm Great design the clegga!! yep $5000 way over top for soakwells, we have 11 large concrete soakwells supply & install for a tad over $2000, from private company, so it pays to do your homework when it comes to things like that!!! Brickwork is now in progress: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ There have been more interesting delays to this point. We had an issue whereby our block's height was 200mm higher than when it was surveyed, causing our plans to need to be resubmitted to council. The developer says it wasn't them, but to my knowledge there are others who had the same issue in our release. Just the other day, brickwork is now hampered due to our plans not being drawn correctly for the 2 course brick we chose Aaron Re: Ventura Leeuwin build - Newhaven 20Mar 03, 2012 10:55 am Sorry Clegga but you will have to prove that with photo's, that is just a tease Hi, My home construction is complete, and the handover is scheduled next week.
