Or you could get the carpet you wanted cut to a large rug size and bind it Re: Tiles v Jackhammer 24hrs to decide VOTE NOW!!! 23Oct 21, 2010 7:07 pm Thanks BRB, that seems to be the way most people are swaying. I think we will end up keeping them with the option of a 'carpet rug' to fill the room later on at our expense. I was talking to our carpet supplier and he thinks it won't be a problem, especially seeing as it isn't touching other carpeted sections he said we could get it in another batch and you wouldn't know. We could even get a different colour / style. We have a nice new rug so probably just go with that for now http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_KVl9inRRjFE/T ... ss+208.jpg plan,block,contract:8-9/2009 Land settle & FHOG$:15/2/2010 Site start:19/5 Slab:4/6 Frames&Trusses:11/6 Roof,windows:24/6 Bricks:1-5/7 Gyprock:14-16/7 Kitchen!,garage door:5/8 Driveway,verandah,tank:2/9 Paint:17-23/9 Tiles!!:15-20/10 Kitchen&bathroom appliances,blinds:22/10 Carpet:8/11My blog: http://buildingbug.blogspot.com Re: Tiles v Jackhammer 24hrs to decide VOTE NOW!!! 24Oct 22, 2010 3:13 pm We ended up going with the tiles. The builder actually said he thought it looked better as tiles once he saw it this morning. It seems the tiler thought it was meant to be tiled and didn't check the plan. This means we get a free room of tiles, feature tiles laid for free and we don't have to pay extra for laying diagonal tiles! Wooohoooo. Glad they stuffed up now lol. They have all been very generous and gone out of their way to make up for it. Tiles are so much more child friendly despite views that tiles are easier for crawling. My 2 children who began crawling and walking on floorboards were mobile FAR sooner than my child who had carpet. I hated carpet in the living area through reflux (aka projectile over the shoulder and miss you completely and don't realise it's there until later when you a)step in it or b) realise the little dried white patches all over the floor was from your baby and c)realise if you didn't clean up those little white patches quickly they erode the shine off the floorboards). Last but not least carpet sucks for toilet training, especially in living areas. That being said now my kids are past that stage I will only have tiles in the family room with carpet in the rumpus and lounge room. Re: Tiles v Jackhammer 24hrs to decide VOTE NOW!!! 27Oct 23, 2010 2:12 pm great decision on the tiles, you wont regret it at all. carpet looks good for all of 6-12 months, then it ages real quickly.. at least the tiles won't wear out like carpet does.
