Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 19, 2010 9:42 pm Hi all, My wife and I have a block of land and are in the process of getting build quotes. We are first time builders so this is all new to us. We received the first quote from Masterton (they call it a "new home proposal"). It says the proposal is valid for just 9 days (7 days in reality as we received the proposal 2 days after it was dated). We are still waiting on other quotes and won't be ready to decide in their time limit. Is this time limit set to perhaps push purchasers into a quicker decision, before they can assess other prices? Or do they have a more valid reason? Does anyone have any experience with going past the "use by date". I'd like to think I could reply to them in a few weeks and say "we will go with you if the original proposal price stands". Thanks for your help. Re: Tender/quote time limit 2Oct 19, 2010 10:42 pm That really seems such a short time for a quote, of course they are trying to push you into signing quickly, prices are not going to change greatly in a couple of weeks, Homes sales people really try to get your emotions going to make the sale, so I would sit back and wait for the other quotes to come in, and if they do ring tell them you are sourcing other quotes.
