Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 17, 2010 9:43 pm OK all – Looks like we have real activity on our block so I thought that now is a good time to start documenting the process via our own thread. We have been lurking around the forum for some time asking the odd question or two and everyone has been so helpful, I hope that this helps someone else as well… Timeline so far Viewed Block 4/12/2009 Block Purchase complete 22/12/2009 Signed Tender 14/3/2010 Council Submission 4/5/2010 Council Approval 29/7/2010 Site Scrape 28/9/2010 Piering 8/10/2010 Slab Laid 20/10/2010 ( we hope ) We are building a two story home in Sydney with one of the smaller builders –Trevelle Homes, who have been fantastic to work with so far – a long way to go yet but so far so good. Why did we go with these guys – because of their quality, flexibility and ability to listen to us ( and no commissions to us here )… The last few weeks have been a little stressful as we have now started the selling process for our current home and getting it up to scratch. There have been a number of last minute changes, colour and brick decisions that we have had to make at the same time. Anyway I will try and keep the updates and pictures coming… Building the Amazon with Trevelle Homes. Re: Building the Amazon with Trevelle Homes 5Oct 18, 2010 9:38 pm SinkOrSwim Oh and thank ozberg - I hope we miss out on some of the faults - I have PMd you to find out some more info. No worries SOS. Its not the problems encountered, but the way they are resolved. Complete inaction not appropriate, nor good enough. Re: Building the Amazon with Trevelle Homes 7Nov 03, 2010 10:37 pm Our plumber was on time as planned - Great guy too! Lots to discuss with him - Taps - Gulleys - Tanks - Pits - Pipe locations - Gas BUT the sewer connection is turning out to be harder to access than expected.... It seems that we may need to tap into the sewer at another location 8-( Also met our SS for the first time face to face and another no nonsense guy - looking good so far. I think he has it under control - cant wait to see. The frame is due onsite very soon as well. Lots of activity!!! Re: Building the Amazon with Trevelle Homes - We have a fram 8Nov 17, 2010 9:23 pm OK, So since last time we have been able to poke around a similar display home ( now that it is finished ) and this has solidified a couple of decisions we had already made and had us change a couple of others. On the downside: We lost a week or two with the rain and a sewer line location issue - still a few minor plumbing items to nail. A couple of the windows we wanted to change had already been ordered - Trevelle allowed us to change them for the cost of the new windows...anyone need a couple of new dune windows? We needed more piering than allocated and its not cheap 8-( On the upside: We have a downstairs frame - how quick are they? Within a couple of days we have gone from a slab to what is looking like a frame and some windows in place already. Worked through a lot of odd items, a few with cost implications still to be nutted out. Lots more steel than I expected... Our bricks are Mild Steel PGH we were deciding between the mild steel and smoke also from PGH. These are both solid colour bricks with the smoke being smoother ( and more expensive ) Mild steel won.
