What design is it? I really like it. Did you change it a lot? What size block are you building on?
What size is your house? ETA...I can't see your linen cupbaord - is there one? Re: Building with Di#on/Tamw@@d - SE Qld (watch the progress) 23Dec 01, 2007 7:15 am The house plan is the Langdon. We changed the third garage into a media room and added a metre to the whole house through the bedrooms. The linen cupboard is in the hallway behind the kitchen, we did have another one in the main kitchen/meals/tv area but we took it out. I hate seeing them in the main area. When we added the extra metre it went through the laundry too, there will be plenty of room in there to put one.
We're building on a 5000m2 block (1.25 acres). The house is 333 m2. Had to be that big for covernants. The design is similar to the one we liked with Adenbrook, but they wanted to charge us a fortune in site works. We have to have a sewerage system put in, 31,500 water tank and some cut and fill. Thanks, I'm glad you like it. I really do and there will be so much space for the kids. Jet Re: Building with Di#on/Tamw@@d - SE Qld (watch the progress) 29Dec 06, 2007 3:02 pm Getting really frustrated, Dixon have had my signed site costings for 2 1/2 weeks and they still haven't signed off on it! They wrote it! I didn't change a thing! I wanted to have all my plans in council by now, not to mention a lot of my quotes for flooring, pool etc are about to run out. The companies have to then redo them to make sure prices haven't gone up.
This is my first gripe with them. I want to be out of this rental now, well as soon as possible. Re: Building with Di#on/Tamw@@d - SE Qld (watch the progress) 30Dec 06, 2007 3:28 pm Jet,
Looking at your plan, the formal living and dining will probably never be used if you are like 99.9% of the pop. We had both in a previous house and we used to see thenonthe way in and on the way out. I suggest turning the Living into your media room (remove the existing media alltogether) and reassigning the dining room (maybe open it from the garage and make it a workshop - if that is your sort of thing). Looks great otherwise, where abouts are ou building? Re: Building with Di#on/Tamw@@d - SE Qld (watch the progress) 31Dec 06, 2007 6:07 pm Thanks 3xb, but this is the minimum size we could have for covernants. To make it this size we had to make the third garage the media which works well for hubby as it hasn't got too much light. The lounge is my sewing studio and the dining is the kids play room, we just never bothered to rename them. They all have a purpose at the moment but may change when we're in there.
Jet Re: Building with Di#on/Tamw@@d - SE Qld (watch the progress) 32Dec 06, 2007 9:04 pm Jet, it was a very slow paper work shuffle for us too. It took ages to get the signed, approved contracts. I would just ring every second day!
I guess that is the downside of getting a less expensive house. Re: Building with Di#on/Tamw@@d - SE Qld (watch the progress) 33Dec 10, 2007 3:29 pm Well, four days later and I still am no further to knowing what's happening. I have been told that they're really busy and have put our contract on hold. They can't even give me an answer to when it will be ready!! I rang head office and was told that company policy is to not put anyone through to managers and I just have to deal with the sales assistant.
I feel like I have made a big mistake going with Dixon. I can't do anything until Jan, they better have an answer for me by then or else I am walking and trying to find another builder. Although I think I have seen them all, maybe they will have new designs next year. I have written a letter to head office and hope they will give me a response. Soooooo frustrating. Jet Re: Building with Di#on/Tamw@@d - SE Qld (watch the progress) 34Dec 11, 2007 7:06 am Not putting anyone through to management?!?!?!?!? That's disgusting... I'm getting angry even thinking about it!!
TAKE NOTE DIXON/TAMAWOOD!!! Every single person in your company should be available for customer service because your customers are the ones PAYING YOUR WAGES! If your managers think they're too important to deal with customers, get them out of the business. I work for a small software company - and everyone from the directors down to the receptionist is there to solve out client's problems and if it were any different we'd go broke in a year - and you will eventually too. Rant over sorry everyone else After 2 false starts, a year living overseas, two more world trips and 3 years of uncertainty we are now starting the build process again - hopefully for real this time! Re: Building with Di#on/Tamw@@d - SE Qld (watch the progress) 35Dec 11, 2007 9:23 am Jet, this doesn't sound too good. Who is your sales rep? I would be riniging him every few hours and demanding (which I am sure you are) that they give you a call back.
The contract process for us was quite slow too. It kinda leaves Dixon's hand once everything is finalised and then you start dealing with the builder direct which is far easier (we have a good builder). Getting to that stage is a drawn out process. it sucks when you want things done! Tamawood restriction 36Dec 13, 2007 8:42 am Hi,
I just went to Dixon/Tamawood yesterday to present my final floorplan (we discussed this floorplan with the Salesperson for about 2 month now) and he told me, the management decided "no alterations to bathrooms in size, fitout and layout anymore". Now you have to go with their bathrooms as they are in the original drawing. You can move the bathroom as a whole, but can't change anything anymore.... Re: Building with Di#on/Tamw@@d - SE Qld (watch the progress) 37Dec 13, 2007 9:05 am That's such a shame Mike,
We added a whole metre to our bathroom and ensuite. They have been changing a lot of rules. My friend was allowed to take the price of the kitchen off her design as she wanted to put in her own, they didn't let us do that. Re: Building with Di#on/Tamw@@d - SE Qld (watch the progress) 38Dec 13, 2007 9:09 am Hi Jet,
we tried it, but as you say, take it or leave it. The answer was: "then may be we are not the right builder for you..." Now we have to change our plans, take the kitchen, rip it out later and put another kitchen in Re: Building with Di#on/Tamw@@d - SE Qld (watch the progress) 39Dec 13, 2007 12:41 pm We're doing the same thing with the kitchen as I hate all the standard options they have. I really like their new bathrooms and tiles, but the kitchen.....Yuck!! Re: Building with Di#on/Tamw@@d - SE Qld (watch the progress) 40Dec 14, 2007 9:32 am We changed both our bathrooms...the main ensuite completely - added a spa etc. We also removed their kitchen and are adding our own. We had no dramas.
That would be a real shame if they changed the rules. I wouldn't have been happy with any of their designs really because I wanted the spa, double vanity etc. Hi, I contracted a Builder to do a Garage to Bedroom + ensuite conversion (Class 1a), the Builder engaged the Certifier and Engineer and received BDA from the Certifier… 0 5034 8 6157 5 6824 |
