Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 15, 2010 7:32 pm Found the perfect block for us (me him and 2 DD - 3yrs and 18 mths) in April 2010. Weren't really seriously looking but just keeping an eye out when 10 acres only 5 mins from where were living come up for private sale. We saw the advert in the local paper friday night called to get the details, kids were up early saturday morning, went for a look, owners were at the block as they live next door. Had a walk around fell in love. block has a huge dam which is handy as we wont be on town water, 60 olive trees (not sure what we will do with these!!) and already had a planning permit which was a huge advantage. Went home had a chat, decided that this was what we always wanted and decided to make an offer. 2 phone calls later and we were on our way to be home owners. Some photos of the block Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Will come back a bit later with details of the house plans!! Building on an acre in Macedon ......one day. Re: Annie's build 5Oct 15, 2010 8:11 pm We are building with a family member which we both had reservations about however so far so good - however we have a long way to go!! We are building in central Vic. We have designed the house ourselves and tried to include as many sustainable principles as possible - the ones we could understand anyway. Found this a little tricky at times, however must have done something right as out rating come back at 7 stars which we were pretty happy about. Lucky that the back of out block was north. Any way here are they plans Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The start of the build has been delayed quite abit by the weather, ground has just been too wet for trucks to drive on however site cut started last week and then yesterday we had a slab!!!!
