Progress is happening on a daily basis at the moment even after receiving 30mm of rain last week. The concreters have been out and today they were putting up the walls around the perimeter of the house getting ready to lay the concrete and styrafoam (sorry bout spelling ) for the waffle pod. Here are a few photos so far. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ That's me standing at my future kitchen sink!!! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We are a bit afraid that the house whilst long is a bit narrow. Hopefully once built it will be ok, another metre wider would have been perfect but the cost to do it over the whole house was far from perfect!!! Now just to choose colours. We think we have finally decided on the render and roof colours for the outside. Here is a computer generated picture by Budde Design Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Roof: Colorbond Shale Grey Render: Dulux Soft Chamois Vents: Colorbond Woodland Grey Windows: White verandahs posts, front door, fascia and bargeboards: Stowe White Garage Doors: Colorbond Surfmist Let me know what you think of the colour scheme. Going for a modern country sort of look. The image doesn't show it but we have concave verandahs all the way around the house. Hopefully I don't go and delete this one now! LOL Re: YAY! I can finally start my own thread!! 5Oct 18, 2010 5:47 pm What a huge home! Love it. Congratulations on your thread and I look forward in seeing the progress. Re: YAY! I can finally start my own thread!! 6Oct 18, 2010 5:52 pm WOW Your house will be ENORMOUS!!! Love it!!! Re: YAY! I can finally start my own thread!! 7Oct 18, 2010 5:54 pm Nitch-looking fabulous! With your windows, have you thought about White Birch? I've found that it matches the Surfmist really well on our place-and isn't as stark as the White. Depends on what you want the effect to be on the inside though. Love the colour scheme! I can finally start my own thread!! 8Oct 18, 2010 7:34 pm Thanks for your lovely comments!! Deemarree: We were never given the option of the White Birch, there were about 5 different standard colours we could choose from they were white, woodland grey, primrose, matt stone beige and black. Bugger bout that. Hopefully it will still all match in nicely. What a headache the colours have been, designing was the easy part!!!! Thanks heaps for the imput Re: YAY! I can finally start my own thread!! 9Oct 18, 2010 7:36 pm White it is then! Good choice! We were woken at 4:30am this morning to the trucks all arriving. It was so exciting. I think I counted 10 guys out there working their you know what's off!! I was very impressed. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I thought I would also upload our plan, we have basically designed this ourselves with the help of a couple of builders along the way. 18 months the designing process took. We fear the house is at least a metre too narrow, but at the time we thought we would save that money. I believe it's 9 metres wide and almost 36 metres long. I'm really proud of how it's turned out and the design really suits our family. I owe so much to the builders who helped with the design to get it just right (other than it being too narrow ) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Well we have at least 2 weeks to wait now before building starts. This is really going to test out how patient I can be! Many decisions to make in the meantime, like roof colour......aaarrgghhh do we go Windspray or shale grey. Can't decide Also need to finish kitchen design I didn't realise how hard it would be to choose benchtop colour and tiles. Edited to finally get the photos right Re: YAY! I can finally start my own thread!! 13Oct 28, 2010 6:54 pm Have tried to get my photos to come out at a normal size like my previous ones but I can't remember the link in image shack that I used. Can anyone help me!!!!! It's sooo frustrating. Re: YAY! I can finally start my own thread!! 14Oct 28, 2010 7:04 pm Hey Nitch, That is huge. Or is it just the pics Im not sure how to get the photo size reduced. Is there something in imageshack itself. I use photobucket so a bit unfamiliar with imageshack Re: YAY! Whoops I must be thinking too much about houses that I forgot what program I used last time. Bhahahahah Have a look at the images now.....maybe house not so huge after all lol!! Re: YAY! I can finally start my own thread!! 17Dec 11, 2010 7:21 am Work has finally started!!!! I guess the whole building process can teach one a LOT of patience. In the builders defence, building conditions here have been less than ideal with all the rain we have had. So yesterday began with 3 vehicles turning up, one being a truck with the timber. Very Very exciting as it seems like it has been weeks since there was any action on the house. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This is a picture we took last night, yesterday they had marked out all the rooms to the house. Colours to the exterior have changed again. But we have finally settled and finalized them I think. We are going with: Roof: Colorbond SHale Grey Gutters & Garage Doors: Colorbond Ironstone Render: Solver Citron Windows, verandah posts, bargeboards, vents & Fascia: White or Surfmist I enlisted the help of an interior designer from Adelaide, she is so lovely and has taken all the hassles of my shoulders. It's so worth the money to get some professional help. Re: YAY! I can finally start my own thread!! 18Dec 11, 2010 8:33 am All sounds good Nitch! If you feel relieved with the help of an designer then it's money well spent IMO! I can finally start my own thread!! 19Dec 15, 2010 5:43 pm Deemarree: Needed to get rid of the headache of it all. Now I can just turn to someone and say "Hey what do you think of this idea or how can I use this in the house". She is just amazing. So I came home from the kids swimming lessons today to find the external wall frames all standing. The kids and I went and had a look through and I'm pretty happy with it all. If the design doesn't work I've got noone to blame but me I no longer am worried about the size. Room size so far is great maybe could have been a little wider through the centre but with the amazingly long view we have from the windows I don't think you will notice it. Guests will see the view to the south as soon as they enter the front door at the northern side, so they won't even notice (hopefully ) Here is the Northern elevation Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This is the southern elevation Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I cheekily asked the builder today what he thinks the completion date might be . I told him that I was hoping April, he said it might be pushing it Bugger!!!!! Here was hoping for a big bday pressie!!!! Re: YAY! I can finally start my own thread!! 20Dec 15, 2010 9:15 pm Hiya Nitch, Awesome That seems like it went up overnight. Well, I have to admit to the fact that we're going to be using an interior designer for our external colours too. Its totally stressing me out with the colours so its easier to just pay someone else to do it. Cant wait to see yours come to life. I better not blink again Hi Mofflepop, I would recommend finding a building designer to prepare plans, they should design to your specified budget. The benefit is you can tender the project out… 9 20401 Hi, Apologies - I know there is plenty out there on this but struggling to put together the puzzle. We're planning our garage/external laundry to master bedroom and… 0 11109 I work with owner, he/she is my man on the ground and I instruct them when to visit the site and take photos and I have other tools in the bag. 4 15265 |
