Browse Forums Building A New House Colour goes on the outside! 41Mar 08, 2011 6:00 pm We now have some interior plasterboard going in. The ceiling and the garage are yet to be finished. The outside is really starting to take shape. Thought I would share a picture of the colour. Thankfully it worked and I think we have finally settled on a vanity top for the bathroom. I think we are really lucky to have had so long to make these decisions, from what I gather most people have to have these things done before building starts. For the bathroom we are thinking of having Laminex Cocoa Nougat. Not sure for the laundry yet though maybe the same. Re: YAY! I can finally start my own thread!! 42Mar 09, 2011 4:10 pm FINALLY!!!!! I have made up my mind on our bathroom and laundry colours. What a relief. I knew I could be indecisive but this is ridiculos So the colours are as follows: Laundry: Benchtop: Laminex Cocoa Nougat Cupboards: Laminex Polar White Feature Cupboards: Laminex Paper Bark Handles: Artia Tapered Bow Bathroom: Cupboards: Laminex Polar White Benchtops: Laminex Cocoa Nougat Handles: Artia Tapered Bow Heres the selections with our tiles. The feature tile will only be going in the bathroom and powder room. The bottom tile is the floor and the other more olive looking tile is the walls. http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee418/NitchFarms/20110309_5.jpg Also a success story! I was asking our cabinet maker if I could have wicker baskets in my kitchen somewhere. I didn't care where I have just always wanted them. He told me that he has looked into them before and has never really found any nice ones and none with their own rollers. So I resided to the fact I would never have them. Then speaking to him today, off his own back he went and sourced some, got a sample in and is happy to put them in my kitchen. I was ecstatic! They are on their own rollers and also have a timber frame around them. He said they are very nice and would look really good in my kitchen. YAY!!! Win for me I say !!!!! Re: YAY! I can finally start my own thread!! 43Mar 09, 2011 9:32 pm Your cabinet maker is a treasure! House is coming along well too! I thought all my exterior colours were sorted and I was happy I was having a glossy black solid door with half leadlight glass panels either side. I have now learnt all about black doors warpinp with the heat. Considering where we live I thought I best not go with the black door. So now I'm stuck. THe exterior colours are as follows Render: Solver Citron Fascia, verandah posts, downpipes: Surfmist Windows: white Garage doors: Ironstone Gutters: Ironstone Roof: Shale Grey I'm thinking now of going with either a white door with half leadlight in this as well as the panels or using a stained front door in like a cedar finish or getting a more solid door and still having it black( can't be guarenteed about the warping though). I'm concerned having it stained as that's yet another colour and contrast added to the exterior. HELP!!!!! Here is the latest image of the exterior http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee418/NitchFarms/20110321_23.jpg close up of front area http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee418/NitchFarms/20110321_24.jpg looking from the inside towards the front door entrance http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee418/NitchFarms/20110321_28.jpg Re: YAY! I can finally start my own thread!! 45Mar 21, 2011 6:40 pm I'd go for the stained door-the timber effect with leadlight panels should look gorgeous! Our front door is white birch and I hate it! I can finally start my own thread!! 46Mar 21, 2011 8:22 pm Gosh that is one gorgeous looking house. I agree with Dee....go for the stained timber door. We are having solid Jarrah doors with the zinclights from the original house inserted.....not cheap but a sentimental decision, and one I am hoping will look alright. I can finally start my own thread!! 47Apr 03, 2011 7:03 am Thought I would add another update! It seems something new is happening everyday at the new house Hubby and I went over and had a drink with the builders friday night and they are now moving onto their next job they really only have a couple of days left on our house I'm so excited that we are almost in the house but at the same time it feels sad because it's been so nice having all these extra faces out here on the farm. Some of our cabinetry went in on friday. The laundry cupboards and the bathroom vanities have all been put in. The doors have all been put on (so glad going with the stain and not the black painted front door now) The ceiling to the patio area has been installed and all the skirting and cornice has been laid. Tiles are starting to happen too. I think the tiler is back tomorrow. I am soooooo happy with the cabinets I think they look great just hope they all match in with the cocoa nougat bench top and that it's not too dark. Should be great for a laundry out here though. The door will also be stained. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ front door!! I really love this door just the way it is. You wouldn't believe my son used to be afraid of dogs and wanted us to get rid of Ruby. Now they are inseperable. Re: YAY! I can finally start my own thread!! 52Apr 27, 2011 12:39 am I just read your whole thread and I'm so impressed. I'm also having a few similar selections as you eg. the white gloss brick tiles and 2pack parchment kitchen doors. Although mine are satin not glossy. I'll be checking back in here to see the progress pictures. Well done on a great job so far. Re: YAY! Yesterday I went and got carpet samples of which I found the one I want straight away. It's called Redbook Carpets Green, an environmentally friendly made carpet and the feel is just beautiful. Today I had my curtain lady come out and we went through all the rooms. So exciting!!! Having Luxaflex Duettes all through the open plan areas and in the bedrooms and formal lounge will be Roman Blinds. Mind you all these decisions took the best of 4 hours. I love the colours Here are some pictures of the carpet and Roman Blind selection for the formal lounge. THe other fabrics match the blind material and can be used for an ottoman or cushions, this way I can have the flow of colour but different textures. THe Roman Blind in this room will have a swag finish at the bottom just to tissy it up a bit!!! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This next one is the same carpet but the material for the Roman Blinds in the kids bedrooms Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ My daughter is having a black and white room with a splash of maybe hot pink. One of my boys will have a motorcross room and the other wants a farm/tractor room!! THese colours will match all the kids rooms. Only room not decided on yet is our room, want something a little different in there, still going the Roman Blind and our room will have a swag finish at the bottom but yet to decide on a material. All just exciting!!!!!! Have I said that enough. Our large tiles have finally arrived also and hopefully might start getting laid next week. I'm tipping an end of the month hand over never thought the day would come when I would say that!! Wahoo!! Re: YAY! I can finally start my own thread!! 56May 03, 2011 6:30 pm you must be so excited getting to this stage. You're very lucky to be getting all the windows organised already. Keep the pics coming, I for one am keeping an eye on things. Re: YAY! I can finally start my own thread!! 57May 03, 2011 9:34 pm That all looks gorgeous Nitch! I'm all happy with the curtain selections, have even chosen our bedroom now. Not too sure about the open plan area thought whether I should go with the Luxaflex Duettes or go with a roller blind. Getting a quote on both and will decide from there I guess. Can anyone help me with a white colour for painting. Our walls are going to be half strength Dulux Ecru and the skirting, arcitraves and doors will be white but I am not sure which white paint to use. I don't want it being too stark white but it will need to match in with the white aluminium window frames. The ceiling and cornice will also be white. I am worried that the Dulux White on white may show up everything but then again I suppose any white paint is going to do this Had a phone call today and the beds I have ordered for my boys have arrived. I expected them to be another 2 or 3 weeks so have to get them to store them for awhile I think. The beds are really cool they look like a timber farm fence at the bedhead, should suit the boys rooms very nicely I think. They're Rustic Country Furniture. Mouse Update for any interested!! To date we have caught over 1000 mice in a little under 2 weeks They are everywhere, they have even eaten through the fly wire from some of our window screens on the new house, they have started eating the foam around the air conditioning ducts in the ceiling as well. Hopefully no damage done to the wiring in the ceiling. On Saturday morning my DD and I dug up a mouse hole (as the dog was trying to dig it up so we helped her!!!) Well there were about 10 mice that ran out all at once, the screams were hilarious . When we drive home at night in different places there are just thousands covering the roads. Yep it's a plague alright - had the locusts last year, now the mice, what next!! Hmmm Re: YAY! How did you go with your lights. De Lights in Mildura have a good range of Robert Kitto lights. Do I spy Blum Corner Drawers with syncromotion in your kitchen? Re: YAY! Do I spy Blum Corner Drawers with syncromotion in your kitchen? Thanks Andrew Yes it's coming along, taking it's sweet time though!! Painters arrived yesterday which was a nice sight to see. WOW I can' believe how much they got done in a matter of hours - they must work like guns!!! I have been so happy with the service at DeLights in Mildura, they have been so very helpful. I had trouble finding pendants for above my breakfast bar - they didn't really have anything in there I was after. I found a magnificent pendant that I really wanted but didn't want to pay $500 each for, so DeLights sourced something very similar for me and are even having it powder coated black (that's the colour I wanted) Now I don't know exactly what my corner drawers are but they are worth every penny. THey are the sort that you can slam shut but just at the end it grabs and self closes slowly (hope that makes sense) they're about $645 each. I so didn't want corner cupboards they annoy me. All my drawers have the soft close mechanism. My kitchen is coming along beautifully. extremely happy. The benefit is you can tender the project out… 9 20416 Hi, Apologies - I know there is plenty out there on this but struggling to put together the puzzle.
