Cleaners have been through and electrician has all but finished the lighting and installation of Fans etc. They installed some light fittings we supplied and just fitted the standard batten fitting and standard CFC globe where we are not sure what we want as yet. This allows for final inspection and sign off. They have also put the power on so we can get an idea of what the bathroom and ensuit will look like with the lights on, although I don't know how many times the heat lamps will get used!!! with the temperatures in QLD. You must be so eager to get back up here and see it again IRL! Tamara1975 Oh, and have you heard from RaryGirl? I check every day for an update from her hoping she has a start date but she hasn't been on here. I'm here, was extremely frustrated and angry with some of the issues that popped up and the sub-contractors attitude/lack of customer support (not Coral subbies) ... so felt it best I stayed away until I got it all sorted. All is good now and we're back on track. I'll just get my fix via John and Marilyn's thread and then yours while I wait. ~ trying to build our dream home by the sea ~ Re: Building a Coral - Portsea in Hervey Bay - Final stages 130Apr 21, 2011 9:23 am Oh it sucks that you have had more hold ups. I was looking forward to a neck & neck race with you Re: Building a Coral - Portsea in Hervey Bay - Final stages 131Jun 12, 2011 9:25 am Hi all, It has been a while since our last update, time has got away from us and we have made several trips back and forth from Penrith NSW to our new home here in Hervey Bay QLD. We are well and truly in our new home now although still many boxes to unpack (still can't find a remote control for the second Television!!!) A quick summary of events since our last post on the forum. Needed the driveway and paths laid before we could physically move in and this needed time to set properly before driving on it so a couple of weeks passed before we made the move. We were down your way a few weeks ago - but it would have been just as you arrived back up on your final trip from down south ... so we didn't drop in I'm hoping we get a start date this week ... for once it wasn't us holding the build process up. I hope the SS has insider info and has our start date already. Can't wait to officially meet him for the start. ~ trying to build our dream home by the sea ~ Re: Building a Coral - Portsea in Hervey Bay - Retaining wa 133Jun 18, 2011 8:41 pm Well, what can we do this week? I know lets build a random shape boulder wall, a what!!! A RANDOM SHAPED BOULDER WALL, any way here goes!!! Firstly we need about 120 Tonnes of random shaped boulders, similar colours to the brickwork so they don't stand out much and maybe no one will notice what we are doing Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Then we need some earth moving machinery and start digging and shaping the banking the wall will retain Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ After cutting the rough shape of the banking we need the Geofabric and blue metal that will stop the soil from being washed through the boulder wall when the ground becomes saturated during rain periods. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The first boulders are selected and placed against the banking. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Gees, some of these boulders are a bit big for a little guy like me!!! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ As the work progresses the wall starts to take shape Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The end of the wall is tiered to cover the height we need to get to and this will make a garden bed/rockery between the two levels. We also need to disguise a sewer inspection point/cover so a bit of subtle placement of rockery plants will eventually hide the thing. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Oh dear more boulders needed, the earth shook this day!! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Watch your toes guys!! Re: Building a Coral - Portsea in Hervey Bay - Boulder wall 139Aug 06, 2011 11:00 pm Hi, been following you thread for a while. Just wondering where you got your boulders from. They look great!! We are from Maryborough so hopefully we can get them delivered to here. also not to expensive hopefully! We also built with coral (daydream 279) in Mbo 2 years ago. We were very happy with them and Chris.B. the site supervisor was fantastic to deal with. (much better than our last 2 builds!!!!) Built a modified "Daydream 279" .. Cor@l Homes on a flat 4473m block!! And lov'n it!!! Re: Building a Coral - Portsea in Hervey Bay - Boulder wall 140Aug 08, 2011 5:40 pm Hi All, I have been following both Tamara's and Nics builds and looks like both are now going well. Tamara will soon be polishing the tiles and thinking about Landscaping and then polishing the tiles again because everything continually gets covered in dust until the ground is covered, believe us we have heaps of dust!!! Been holding out for a while but I had better let you know what we are up to. We are going to have a shed/garage built 4000mm wide x 9000mm long. so to enable this to fit in we have had retaining walls built approx 2400mm from the side of the house and about 50mm from the boundary (no neighbors yet to share the cost unfortunately) So a few progress photos Just "lurv" excavators and bobcats Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Lower retaining wall. We put a storm water line from the back of the block under where the slab will go so we can look after any drainage problems in future.
