Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 20, 2007 5:08 pm Hi Everyone,
I'm yet another one building with Adenbrook in SE QLD. We signed up with them a couple of weeks ago and have our first "Tender" meeting next week. Has anyone got any advice on what I should be ready for at the meeting? We're building the Lakewood 28 with the Beach house facade. Has anyone seen any of these houses with the double height brick? Does it look ok?? Andrew Re: Building Sth Bris with Adenbrook 2Nov 20, 2007 8:05 pm hi andrew
Welcome - we are building the lakewood 29 with beach house facade. Not sure about the bricks as we are getting the full render which looks awesome with the feature weatherboard. Where abouts are you building?? My only advice is to get everything in the contract. Do not assume because they have said they will do something that they will!! Also - don't rely on variation requests because until these are in the contact they are worth nothing (even if a sales rep has signed them) Did you get the stacker door and pillar removed from the alfresco? We wanted to but is was wayy too $$$. Slugger I agree - I am the boss!! Re: Building Sth Bris with Adenbrook 3Nov 21, 2007 6:47 am I built the Lakewood 29 with double height bricks. We had nothing but pleasure dealing with Adenbrook. No problems at all. If there were minor issues, they got sorted out within an exceptional time frame.
I am so slack with getting new photos, these are old but this will let you know what the bricks look like in double height http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v97/Aaurora/1-1.jpg Our Adenbrook home was completed in September. Re: Building Sth Bris with Adenbrook 4Nov 21, 2007 9:24 am Hey Andrew,
We've just built the Ascot 30...had a few issues along the way...still a few things for them to fix, but now quite happy. The best piece of advice I can give you is to be prepared at tender presentation. This is the ONLY stage when the design team and the estimators are booked in to look after you exclusively…at the same time. If there is anything wrong with the plans or pricing….do not sign until they get it right. Even if it means you have to sit there all day. Don’t accept “we’ll fix that up for you by contract signing stage”. In our case, it took 7 attempts for them to position the house correctly. Yes, all fine now, but quite stressful at the time. One more thing, you will have plenty of questions for the builder throughout the whole process. From my experience with them, don’t just believe the first answer you get. Some of the throw away answers that were given by numerous people simply defy belief. Be prepared to plenty of research yourself. Happy now, yes Cheers, Mark Re: Building Sth Bris with Adenbrook 5Nov 21, 2007 10:46 am Write down any questions you already have and take them with you. Jot down any questions you think of while the presenter is speaking so you don't forget. Request everything in writing and don't take it as so until it is.
We didn't have any problems with Adenbrook but I think the above should be the same for all builders meetings. Actually at some times i have found them far more accommodating than would be expected. If you get Glenn as a supervisor - I can happily say it will all be fantastic. Although I have not heard of any bad supervisors, just that we only know Glenn. Are you doing your colour choices at this meeting? If so make sure you are well prepared or have pictures of how you want things to go. And be prepared that they won't let you have white walls! We picked Aria Ivory and are really happy, it's a common one in the display houses - you can look at our blog http://peedleville.blogspot.com or i can pm you extra pics if you need to see what the colours look like once in the house. We are building the Hamilton with some of our own adaptions but we chose double height bricks and have received many comments from neighbours saying they like them - particularly because our house doesn't look the same as everyone elses! Just build it the way I want and everything will be okay. Adenbrook 6Nov 30, 2007 2:16 pm We had a terible run with them...
We are so very very disapointed with service they gave us and quality of the finished product, what was supposed to be our "Dream Home" for our family to grow up in is an ongoing nightmare. We honestly couldn't recommend them to anyone. I’m curious about how you went with this. We are planning a KDRB and considering Plantation Homes as a builder. I’m aware that after the demolition another soil test… 1 6328 i wouldn't be worried, you'll definitely miss something, no matter how many times you review. we've spent close to 5 months ensuring everything got reflected in the… 5 9457 Thanks for your reply. I will just wait and see I guess. Trying to get some more information from our builder. 9 11742 |
