Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Ah, the serenity... my Serenity 21 build, Sandarra 21Oct 17, 2010 7:37 am So in the latest news... Seems as though they braved the sub-zero conditions to start the roof... nice one... definitely starting to take shape now. Other pics to be posted later at some stage (thanks, Belial) - they will certainly be better than this camera phone job (!) The Digital Master returns And have to say, mate - you really do have an eye for how to frame each shot - even if it's just a chunk of wood - kinda amazing Still can't seem to right-click to save those pics, but guess I'll get it right in the end. And thanks for the encouragement regarding the back part of the house - it was an addition to the floor plan, so we'll see how it pans out. Meanwhile - my timber sliding doors have become small basins for rainwater for the past week - which seems to be contributing to potential warping and an inability for the doors to close fully imo - a bit hard to take when those puppies were an upgrade over $3,000 A bit hard to tell from this pick - but the grey thing over the frame at the rear is soggy newspaper Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Building with the Big M, Sandarra Settlement July 16 Site Scrape Sep 22 Slab Oct 12 Framing commenced Oct 13 Build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=39517 Re: Ah, the serenity... my Serenity 21 build, Sandarra 24Oct 18, 2010 8:25 pm Hey mate, Looks like your frame is pretty much complete and is looking good. The piers will be bricked apparently, so I guess that will beef them up to look somewhat substantial... I think guttering and fascia is scheduled for later this week.... Apparently this is roof-tiles week and as per usual, can't wait for the progress and see how the build changes as a result. Met the neighours yesterday who will be building a 2-story PD place - given the narrow 12.5m lot, I suppose the result is kind of like a town-house. They mentioned PD gutters are different to the Big M, so not sure how all that works. I would have thought the gutters shown here will do the trick nicely though... The warm weather means those waiting for slabs might find their build scoots along now - progress in the estate is looking great. No problem with the pics, PD gutters will be the same as ours on our garage which is layed back S type so that it sits above the brick wall rather than protruding past, hence this allows the wall to be built closer to the boundary. So like out garage wall 15cm from the boundary line. My Big M website tells me the roof is completed, so I guess they might have completed the capping by now and all done and dusted. Hope so! Never knew there were so many tile styles and designs until now - the simple Spanish style looks good in grey I think. Apparently wrapping is scheduled the day after the race that stops a nation (and probably all builders and building - !) with brickwork to be completed mid-November. Interested how long it is typically from lock-up to handover - ball-park - any estimations? Not that I'm impatient...
