Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Henley Lexington Q2 - new build 21May 06, 2011 3:01 am Great news huddo, I know just how excited you are, since we bought our block in June and they only titled it a few weeks ago, so we still don't have a start date! my new build thread- Ben Trager https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=89826 my switch build thread (2011) https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=36569 Re: Henley Lexington Q2 - new build 23May 12, 2011 7:08 pm cut and fill happened on monday, skip and toilet on tuesday, retaining wall wednesday, pegged out today. They want to do all trenches and plumbing tomorrow but not likely with this weather. fingers crossed. Re: Henley Lexington Q2 - new build 24Jun 03, 2011 8:25 am all is not going to plan. with the weather we have had, the site has become a mud pile. All the plumbing was done and then nothing...leaving the site horrendous to work on. As of yesterday we were told to upgrade the slab (from M class to I don't know what) or put the contract on hold until it dries out. I could cry. Has anyone else had this? We have questions to ask today about the upgrade. Of course they also won't give us a price on the upgrade until we commit to doing it - so potentially we can add many thousands to our contract price. Very much over a barrel I think.... Re: Henley Lexington Q2 - new build 25Jun 03, 2011 8:49 am Huddo, that's awful. Terrifying to read as we've just had site cut and are keeping fingers crossed that the weather stays consistent for a couple of weeks. I hope whatever you have to do isn't hideously costly..........Have they given you any indication of how long it would need to sit to dry out? Huddo, we are at the same stage as you. Our block is also a muddy mess from the rain, but they are still going ahead with our slab. They are pouring it as I type. I have never heard of anyone being asked to upgrade the slab. I hope you sort it soon. It must be so disappointing to come this far then come up against a brick wall. Keep us posted. Re: Henley Lexington Q2 - new build 27Jun 03, 2011 4:40 pm the latest is we are changing from a waffle pod to a conventional slab which can apparently sit on water, although they will drain most of it first (not sure why they can't drain for the waffle pod slab but I'm not a builder). Estimated cost is $2.5k. MrsChatz - If we wait for it to dry we are looking around october / November to get started, and then adding these winter months to the end of our contract which currently ends in February. Not an ideal option due to current housing arrangements. Re: Henley Lexington Q2 - new build 28Jun 18, 2011 4:41 pm update - they are going ahead next week with the conventional slab (fingers crossed it actually happens) and apparently we are to receive a credit??? Can't wait to see the variation to explain this as we were quoted $2.5k upgrade. Anyway will wait and see Re: Henley Lexington Q2 - new build 29Jun 20, 2011 10:50 am Fingers crossed you are powering ahead soon!! Re: Henley Lexington Q2 - we have a slab and frame! 30Jun 28, 2011 7:54 pm we have had some really exciting bits happen. Last week the concreter came and did the form work and on Saturday the slab was poured, and today the frame started going up. So exciting to walk through and try to picture it all coming together. Framers are back on Thursday, brickie is booked for 18th July but could come earlier if the roof goes on time. In the end our variation ended up being a credit!! That's our second so far (ducted vaccum was changed). I am finding it all a bit amazing. Re: Henley Lexington Q2 - new build 31Jun 28, 2011 9:13 pm Oh that's great news! Our slab was poured on 16 June and the frame was up by 23 June. Windows and some doors too. It's wonderful when it starts to happen! Here's hoping for smooth sailing from here on...... Re: Henley Lexington Q2 - frame 32Jul 04, 2011 8:45 pm thanks Mrs Chatz. So far so good, trusses go up tomorrow and the alfresco slider stackers are already in. Guttering and fascia get done end of this week with roof tiles delivered on Monday. They are powering along now.
