Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 19, 2007 1:38 pm To all those that have built with PD .. general question about the termite barrier protection that gets done.
Have only just given it some thought after reading Matt's blog and he showed a pic of the little box that holds the stuff that repels/kills the termites. My concern ... I've never seen a little box around the house!!!!!! Are there a few different ways of doing this termite protection?? Maybe different builders use different methods??? Going to be doing a thorough search tonight to see if we just haven't noticed it. Re: PD Builders - Termite protection 2Nov 19, 2007 1:54 pm Hi Amber,
There are a few ways of termite protection. Another is a spray done pre-slab and after built around the perimiter. My Dad has been a pest controller for over 25 years and he sprayed my house rather than the pipes. They all do their job. No need to worry. You should have a sticker inside your meter box with info on termite protection. Re: PD Builders - Termite protection 4Nov 19, 2007 2:19 pm 3 phase power for the shed?
Wouldn't that imply that he actually goes into the shed (other than to get his motorbike out)/?? ![]() Re: PD Builders - Termite protection 5Nov 19, 2007 3:22 pm ![]() Wouldn't that imply that he actually goes into the shed (other than to get his motorbike out)/?? If you dont have the full $$$$ handy, they can just run the pipe under your driveway before you concrete it for a small cost and you can have the full system put in later. Built Porter Davis "Dromana" 2007. Re: PD Builders - Termite protection 11Nov 21, 2007 11:00 am Hey all,
we have some 'termimesh' pipes sticking out from the slab. we had upgraded the termite protection in order to avoid remembering to top up the yearly sprays. Any idea what happens tio these termimesh pipes? Re: PD Builders - Termite protection 12Nov 28, 2007 6:01 pm Another point to remember with the PD spray system is that if you concrete your paths to but up against the walls of the house, ummmm! You immediately void the PD warranty. So keep your eyes open for those little critters...Especially the flying ones that go in those convenient slots left between the bricks. ![]() Re: PD Builders - Termite protection 13Nov 28, 2007 7:16 pm pre slab pour , on the slabs i have done, termite plates were installed over all pipes resting in the centre of the concrete

Our previous house and builder used the system that had little inspection/filling points and the chemical seemed to be in a pvc pipe around the perimeter. On another point do any of these systems really work? The chemical barriers lock you into yearly expense(great for the applicator) with dire warnings of pestilence and doom if you don't hand over the cash each year for a refill and is it worth subjecting our families to the awesome capabilities of the chemicals that are used? Could it all be helping to push up the rates of childhood asthma, food intolerances, and perhaps even ADD. Who knows.
