Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Anybody building/built with Right Build Homes? 21Sep 02, 2012 11:39 am I am another disgrunteld rightbuild homes client. Still waiting for my home to be finished and we signed up with them in December 2010. Went to the DoFT and the CTTT and its been an absolute waste of time going through them, as we have just wasted six months. Now I need to find out where to from here. Re: Anybody building/built with Right Build Homes? 22Sep 05, 2012 12:43 pm We were also building with The Right Build, and for all those that are in the same boat as us we are really sorry that you have to go through the same thing. We were also just informed on Monday night that they went into liquidation. We are absolutely devastated at the moment and are just trying to find out what we can do to just complete the house. If anyone has any advice or information it would be greatly appreciated. Re: Anybody building/built with Right Build Homes? 23Sep 06, 2012 9:08 pm I am pizzed off!! I recently paid up my deposit a month back and now they went into liquidation... now i and my wife are wondering how much we would be getting back from the insurance... now confused, who to use ? have to start all over again, probably best to do project homes.. Re: Anybody building/built with Right Build Homes? 24Sep 06, 2012 9:13 pm Pizzed, I would hazard a guess that insurance does not cover you as HWI is only required on signing of contracts, generally most builders won't take HWI out till contract time You may be able to keep your design and any soil or contour surveys that were done. Don't rule out all small builders though, Westminster and cosmopolitan both big companies both went under, unfortunately you just can't tell I feel for everyone affected by this, we were very close to signing with them last year, so it could easily be us in the same situation. I hope you find a builder that builds you a beautiful home. Re: Anybody building/built with Right Build Homes? 26Sep 06, 2012 10:28 pm Homebuilder2012 Interesting comments in relation to The Right Build. Sharing my experience with you all which hopefully will provide an alternative and perhaps a more positive perspective. I spent close to 12 months searching for a builder who would accept me, my ideas and budget limitations. The team at the Right Build were the ONLY team who listened, provided encouraging feedback with every idea I had and treated me with respect. They were willing to work within my budget restraints and together we came up with a design that I could afford. Yes progress has been slow, but in all fairness, a month of rain and soggy working conditions certainly has not helped. I cannot fault the workmanship of where we are at today, I cannot fault the way I have been treated and each time I have suggested minor changes they have worked with me ensuring that paperwork is noted accordingly and that my dream will be realised. Never once have I been made to feel like I was generating problems for them. I too have heard rumours in relation to the Rouse Hill Project but lets be fair here, there may have been many other contributing factors that are not public knowledge and as the Right Build are the frontmen, they unfortunately are dealing with the brunt of whatever may have gone astray. Many hours of research prior to signing up with the Right Build confirmed to me that there is NOT one builder out there who has not at some point had criticism, sometimes frightening in content, aimed at them for whatever reason. I am happy to wait that little bit longer if it means that my home will be built to a standard that meets my standard. Hey Homebuilder, so how do u feel now? Sounds like you are closer to the builder than you care to admit Re: Anybody building/built with Right Build Homes? 28Sep 07, 2012 1:54 pm Hi Esobel and to all other posters out there: To clarify I was in no way of any relation or "close to" the builder and I do care to admit that fact! I too am absolutely devistated and have pounded the pavement for a solution and to find another builder who is willing to take on my works. Please keep in mind that as they have liquidated we need to keep this forum as a support network and share any useful information we have rather than to reflect ones frustration onto another to simply share another point of view. If you did attend the forum that was held last week you would understand I am not of a relation to any party at The Right Build Homes. A good website that I found - most of you may know it is: https://homewarranty.nsw.gov.au/portal/ ... 3Bhome/255 An interesting fact is that Cosmopolitan went under in November 2011. As of 30th June 2012, it is comforting to read most people are in their homes or are nearing completion. That was 7-8 months - less the 4-5 week closure over Christmas and New Year, that is 6-7 months. To me that is rather quick. FOR THOSE WHO ARE WITH QBE: > Contact QBE for a claim form > Forward QBE a copy of absolutely everything. I had 1.2kg worth of paperwork across two envelopes. > Documents can be emailed to builderswarrantyclaims@qbe.com or posted to QBE Australia, GPO Box 4108, Sydney NSW 2001 > Their Telephone number is 1300 650 502 Please, again, lets use this site for sharing support rather than to make criticism at another's view point! Re: Anybody building/built with Right Build Homes? 29Sep 12, 2012 9:02 am Hi Pizzed, We too are in a similar situation. We paid our deposit and signed the building contract in April last year and have been waiting for the land to be registered, which it was in June this year. The Right Build did not take insurance out when we paid the deposit, and I called the liquidators and they basically said that we have got buckleys of getting anything back. We started hearing rumours back in May about the finances of The Right Build, and as things started looking progressively worse, we decided to start speaking to other builders. On some good advice, we ended up speaking to Vogue Homes. They appear to be much the same as The Right Build, a smallish company that mainly do custom designs. They have been very quick in getting plans and a tender drawn up and although we are not using our design drawn up by The Right Build, the design we have with Vogue Homes is 2 squares bigger and $20,000 cheaper so we are very happy. I hope by some miracle that we all get at least part of our money back, good luck to everyone anyway and no doubt I will see some of you at the creditors meeting next Tuesday. If you see the report, you will see that they spent tonnes of money for 2 days worth of work. Basically i was advised that i am not going to get anything back from these guys and looking at the assets vs creditors.. and by the time they use up all the money to do all of this, there is nothing left in the pool for any of us.. We've gone to a project home builder now as we do not have the time to re-work the design, and we too are no longer using our original design... how did the creditors meeting go? Re: Anybody building/built with Right Build Homes? 31Sep 21, 2012 10:23 am Hi Pizzed, my husband went along and said it was a waste of time. They said that the Director was invited to attend but chose not to because of threats made to him and his family. Basically, the company had very little in assets so it is unlikely anyone will get any of their money back, and anyone who wants to proceed with legal action for trading insolvent etc must do so at their own cost. We didn't hold much hope that there would be any money returned to us, but that just confirmed it unfortunately. Good luck to you with your home, hope we are all in our places soon! Re: Anybody building/built with Right Build Homes? 32Sep 21, 2012 10:31 pm Hi All, havent checked on the forums for a while but looks like quite a few other Right Build victims have come forward. It is such a terrible experience to be going through. Just wondering if anyone has any luck with their warranty claims as yet? I lodged mine 2 weeks ago but havent heard a thing. I have heard though that it can take up 12 months and beyond to finally get processed and throughout the process it is painful. Based on this I have decided to engage a new builder now and hope that I will be able to recover something from the insurance company. Although it's a risk, I just want to try to put this nightmare behind me as quickly as possible. The builder I have engaged is called Vantage Corp. If anyone is interested in their contact details or would like further information, feel free to pm me. I'm putting a new floor in my kitchen, slate flagging on a standard concrete slab.
